stebbinsd Posted August 29, 2014 Share Posted August 29, 2014 There are some NPCs who you can't kill because that would leave the cities without important services (such as, without a jarl). There are other NPCs who you can kill if you so choose, but doing so can potentially deprive you of valuable services, such as blacksmith merchants or apothecary merchants. Imagine if, in order to get around those nasty consequences, the game had several generic, replaceable NPCs who would take over the services of the dead NPCs if there wasn't a unique NPC to take over the duties. For example, -Kill Hulda, and Ysolda will take over the Bannered Mare.-Kill Ysolda, and in the vanilla game, you're screwed.-However, with this mod, killing Ysolda will cause "Innkeeper," a generic NPC with randomized gender and facial features, will take over the Bannered Mare. Innkeeper will respawn, indefinitely, if killed (thus giving you an endless supply of Bannered Mare owners). If Arcadia is killed, "Apothecary" would replace her. If you have a mod that makes essential NPCs killable, then you kill off Balgruuf the Greater, who will then be replaced with "Jarl."
