ell46
Is there a mod for a weapon that does one hit kills? I am so sick of being beaten by that * Ser Cauthrien when trying to escape the Arl of Denerims place? I don't think you are meant to escape, but she is so hard to kill at this point in the game it's ridiculous and just once I want to win even if it means cheating. :verymad:
DarkeWolf
awww, I think that Ser Cauthrien is one of the most fun battles of the game. I absolutely love to 1on1 with her. There's several mods listed for god items that can seriously increase your chances against her and her team. There's also the console command runscript killallhostiles http://dragonage.wikia.com/wiki/Console(I've actually been meaning to try that one out sometime. I think it would be funny as hell to see the Arch-Demon just fall over dead.) Also, if you and your party (have to manually make them move) take off running down the hall RIGHT after the cutscene ends, you can lead her and 1-3 of her warriors away from that room, and lead them off into one of those side halls, where the archers can't target you. The archers and mages won't follow along, if you're outside their field of view (direct line of sight), which really, really helps even out the odds more to your favor. Then once you've got her dead, I'd have your mage fireball, blizzard, or tempest the archers that can see you in the hall, so that you're not facing such a big group of mobs in combat. Waking Nightmare is one of my favorite CC spells ever. It won't necessarily stun her, but you can turn all her minions AGAINST her....

That is what I usually do run for it, into I think it's the library and as you say not many follow, the ones that do are easily finished off, but her in this particular instance isn't right, the programmers have really bumped her up just for this one fight I'm sure, because when I meet her and her cronies outside the landsmeet she is a piece of cake to kill, you don't even need potions. My lot went through potions like they were on a drinking frenzy, I think I went in there with at least 50+ her life bar looked as if it wasn't even going down most of the time and by the time I had her down to I would say only 25% left I was down to one man standing and no potions, there was no way I was going to win and I'm sick of it, just ONCE I want to kill her before the landsmeet. I'll try that script you mentioned, right now I don't care I just want to win for once at that point, the snotty c*w really gets my back up. I thought I'd read someone saying they had a mod for a weapon that does one hit kills, but I couldn't find it, I must have got it wrong. I'll try the waking nightmare as well, anything to help me win. Which reminds me isn't there something in the GW philosophy about "any means possible"
DarkeWolf
At the Arle's palace, Cauthrien is a boss level creature. Outside Landsmeet she is a player level creature. So you are correct there, that she's been bumped up. :wink:In fact, she's one of the top 5 toughest bosses in the game. (Tho, comparably, not one of the "Hardest", as she doesnt have dragon attacks of say... Flemeth). I know that there's a mod that adds god rings, and a mod that adds god armor. I think its demon blood armor, I can't remember. But I do remember that it's a mod that adds 5 suits of it to your inventory. (Over and over and over...) Which Is why I got rid of it (that and I just didnt need it). http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=119Building up some items on winter forge for it, can also help. "Hello. My name is Alistair. I'm a potion-aholic. I've been an addict ever since I met this woman named Cauthrien....."
ell46
This is one of the things that is really bugging me about this fight, I beat the high dragon doing the Ashes quest almost by myself when everyone else went down quite early on but I stuck in there thinking I wasn't going down without putting up some kind of fight and I really didn't think I could do it alone but I did, that fight felt like it went on for hours  I beat Flemeth as a dragon which I found hard going and only 2 of us standing when she died and I can't beat one stupid woman. As I was so close to killing her last time I might have one more try, but if I loose again that's it, what ever it takes, I'll put Sophie to shame, maybe even send for Avernus
DarkeWolf
Noooooooooo not Avernus! bad! Bad! (Unless you're bringing him along hoping those huge ears of his will distract her!) LOL yeah, I can remember my first fights with some of the dragons too. Some of um definitely felt like they took hours. That one dragon in DAA definitely felt like it did. One more try. Just one more. If not, then nuke her with killallhostiles :wink:What kind of spells is your mage using? Try throwing in some nox type spells which will whittle away at her HPs while the others whack away at her.
ell46
I did it, I did it, I DID IT. No cheats, no all singing all dancing weapons or armour. She did what she did last time and went after one of my party so I kept them running round the bookcase and set the rest of us to knock the living daylights out of her, boy that felt soooooo good when she went down. It isn't true that the archers and the mage won't come after you by the way, they did come down when her life bar was at about 25%, but they only came as far as the library door, so I got the nearest PC to close the door and they stayed outside  I was so hyped with success I went round the castle and killed everyone, except the kitchen staff they ran for it  so I went outside and ran round the castle to make sure there were no soldiers out there, I did find 2 in the veg garden, but they wouldn't fight :yucky: and I took everything that wasn't nailed down. Thandal
:woot: Congratulations! :woot: I sure know what it's like to be in the "MUST... BEAT... THIS... ONE!" zone. My first encounter like that was the Desire Demon with the gorup of ensorcelled Templars in the Circle. They just seemed to swarm out of the room and cut down my Party. Over-and-Over-and-Over-and... :P
ell46
It's a great feeling that's for sure, if it had been like old games I would have gone for her throat the first time I ran into her in Redcliffe castle, the uppety madam, but you can't do that in this game. I took a hammering from those templars as well, but only the first time round. I did have a console cheat lined up just in case I got slaughter again, but I wasn't looking forward to using it and I didn't even have get Avernus and his ears to help
