SpellAndShield
It's a great feeling that's for sure, if it had been like old games I would have gone for her throat the first time I ran into her in Redcliffe castle, the uppety madam, but you can't do that in this game. I took a hammering from those templars as well, but only the first time round. I did have a console cheat lined up just in case I got slaughter again, but I wasn't looking forward to using it and I didn't even have get Avernus and his ears to help  What spells/abilities did you end up using to defeat her? I know what you mean about this battle. The last time only my shapeshifter survived it....

I know what you mean about this battle. The last time only my shapeshifter survived it.... I didn't use any myself I was to busy keeping Zev running round the bookcase and making sure he was topped up with health potions, the PCs that took her down used what ever spells and talents I gave them, which weren't that many as I always put my points into the weapon skills first and what's left go into warrior, templar what ever, so I had a mage, and 2 warriors with templar and champion talents, one with full templar talents the other with full champion talents, not that they could use them much as their stamina soon went to zero, so it was a good old hack and slash. As soon as she hit the dog once and it died, I knew she was going after one person at a time, then when I saw her next target was Zev who's main weapon is the bow so he wasn't too close to her, I started him running and the rest of the fight went that way, she didn't once go after anyone else, if she had I would have taken control of them and got them running. DarkeWolf
Hahaha well, thats a very interesting tactic. I probably wouldnt have thought of that one! Good work! Congratulations! I bet that it felt pretty darned good to finally beat her square, after all this time! Odd. In all the times that I've played that fight (Its one of my favorite fights, I have savegames right before that, so that I can play it whenever I want) I've never had more than just the warriors come after me, when leading her away. In all the times that I've played that fight (Its one of my favorite fights, I have savegames right before that, so that I can play it whenever I want) I've never had more than just the warriors come after me, when leading her away. It felt marvelous, great you name it. It wouldn't have felt the same if I had cheated, which is why a large part of me didn't want to HAVE to resort to that, but talking through it earlier made me realise that if I almost did it once I should be able to do it, that I needed to look at the tactics. I did mix up a large batch of health potions, but I managed to keep Zev out of reach most of the time and when she did score a hit, he did take a hammering from one blow, but not enough to kill him outright. It was quite funny because a couple of times instead of running after him she tried going the other way, but I was ready for her  I've raised a couple of kids so I know all about table dodging. I've only used the run to the library tactic in the last 3 games and they have never followed in any of those, so I assumed they weren't programmed to and in this game they didn't appear until she was almost dead, unless getting Morrigan to cast the snowstorm spell on them before we legged it got them riled up. I don't think you are actually supposed to win, the chance is obviously there and of course if you do win you don't get to go to the fort and do the quests along with 3 options to get out, but I did enjoy Anora's comment about the estate being like a wasteland  I could have just walked out of the front door after killing her and her lot, but I was so angry with her and stoked at winning I went on a killing spree, pay back time, after all they were Logain's or Howe's men I use sneaky tactics every chance I get, even when I know I could just run in and cut them all down, I just like ambushing people, sometimes it makes fights last longer than they should, but it's fun especially if you are a mage or take control of your mage. DarkeWolf
LOL I did that on one of my runs too. Deciding to clean sweep the place. tho I regretted it after I got awarded his lands. Crap! I gotta hire all new guards, and they know I slaughtered all the last ones! THATS gonna be a challenge!! Ah well, maybe thats why they seemed nervous in DAA  hehe yeah, it always does give you a lot more sense of accomplishment when you do it square, without resorting to cheats. Tho... for future reference, I MIGHT suggest throwing on some physical defense bonuses to your "chicken" the next time you play "Fox and the hen". That way you can watch them go running after him/her and hear all those "swoosh swoosh swoosh" sounds when they miss! :woot:LOL I used to make Howe chase me thru the halls, just to make him do exactly that. Hrm. yeah, its possible that throwing the aoe spell on them before rabbitting mighta caused that. I havent tried it, I usually just hoof it out. Heh, It was the adrenaline rush I tell you! The adrenaline rush! (excuse for killing all the staff and guards). I'm NOT bloodthirsty! Hahaha well, we all have our own playstyles. Sometimes when I see a group inside a room, I'll stop and have the mages lay down paralyze runes, greasetrap and whatnot outside the door, before going to go open it with the party on hold down the hall. They come out, they get para'd and then we fireball the grease. FUN!Throw a blizzard or lightning storm into the mix, and go grab another cup of coffee while they barbeque!
