Zura
Apparently, I can 'force load' save games without needing the save game. Is there any way I can do it? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks.Just click on Force Load underneath the message. I always save then reload the saved game so you're not playing from the force load. Zura
The message isn't there! :( Where is it supposed to be?
danscott84
You should have a message come up similar to the one that asks you the name for saving a game. Whenever I have had it come up, it usually states I am missing such and such dlc. In that window it has the option to force load or cancel. Then after forcing the load it will give another warning that some aspects of the game may be corrupted or missing. If you are not getting this then I would guess that the save game you are looking for is not there. You have to have a saved game to load from. This is usually found in the MyDocuments/BioWare/DragonAge/characters folder. In the characters folder should be more with the names of the characters available to load with saves folder within those. If there are no saves folders within the character's folder, then there is no saved game to try and force load.
Thandal
The message isn't there! :( Where is it supposed to be? @danscott and @SaturnC; I only started seeing that same message about the "Force Load" option after patching to 1.03 (which only became stable for me after *much* experimentation, uninstalls/reinstalls, and general hassle. The "Large Memory Header Fix" from FO3 finally did the trick for me.) Maybe Zura really isn't getting the option to even try because s/he's (wisely?) stayed at 1.02a... I actually have had those messages before even the first patch. The new patch has been a scapegoat for a lot of issues, but I have not had any problems with it, so (from my experience) the problems have to lie elsewhere. I guess that before 1.03 I just hadn't ever uninstalled a mod or removed any DLC and then reloaded an earlier save. Thanks for eliminating that possibility. @Zura; After re-reading your original post, I'm trying to determine what you mean by loading a game "... WITHOUT having the save game". No matter what, you do need to have the saved game file you're trying to load. You just don't always need all the mods/DLC that might have been in place when the save was created. danscott84
Thandal, I may have to retract the part about the message before the first patch. My first version of the game was the Steam verion which was not good, but I had the Warden's Keep with it. When I switched to the store version, I transferred the saved games over, and that's when I got the message because it did not have the Warden's Keep. However, I still stand by my statement about the new patch. Perhaps I am in the minority.
Zura
Hey, thanks for all your help but let me explain this a bit more clearly. :)I installed Dragon Age from the EAdownload manager then downloaded the latest patch from Bioware's Official Patch page and installed it right after a fresh install from EADM. Now, I don't wish to start all over again because I've nearly finished Dragon Age on my PS3 and I bought it on PC because people say it's a huge difference, and it is. I downloaded a saved game from the Dragon Age Nexus and put it in the correct folders in my documents.I start the game, press load and click 'switch character', I see the character's name that I downloaded and I click it and choose a save file and click 'load'. It tells me I need some of the DLC but I don't have any authenticated. There is only a 'Ok' button. And when I press ok, at the bottom right hand corner there isn't any 'force load' :( EDIT: I'm not trying to force load a game because I disabled an Addon, It doesn't work because I need an official DLC like Warden's Keep or Blood Dragon Armour to play someone elses saved game. I thought about this after signing off last night, and there are a couple of possibilities that come to mind. First, the save game file itself is bad. Have you tried downloading a different save game file and tried it? Also, the character you downloaded may be custom (something like head not a vanilla version) and thus would cause the game not to load it. However, I think on the second one it would load, you would just be running around without a head.
