How do I 'force load' a save game that I downloaded?

It also could be the save has the character at a location that is within the required DLC. If the character is standing on the steps of Soldier's Peak, the game has nowhere to put the PC and therefore cannot load.

Hey, thanks for all your help but let me explain this a bit more clearly. :)I installed Dragon Age from the EAdownload manager then downloaded the latest patch from Bioware's Official Patch page and installed it right after a fresh install from EADM. Now, I don't wish to start all over again because I've nearly finished Dragon Age on my PS3 and I bought it on PC because people say it's a huge difference, and it is. I downloaded a saved game from the Dragon Age Nexus and put it in the correct folders in my documents.I start the game, press load and click 'switch character', I see the character's name that I downloaded and I click it and choose a save file and click 'load'. It tells me I need some of the DLC but I don't have any authenticated. There is only a 'Ok' button. And when I press ok, at the bottom right hand corner there isn't any 'force load' :(

EDIT: I'm not trying to force load a game because I disabled an Addon, It doesn't work because I need an official DLC like Warden's Keep or Blood Dragon Armour to play someone elses saved game.

I thought about this after signing off last night, and there are a couple of possibilities that come to mind. First, the save game file itself is bad. Have you tried downloading a different save game file and tried it? Also, the character you downloaded may be custom (something like head not a vanilla version) and thus would cause the game not to load it. However, I think on the second one it would load, you would just be running around without a head.

Hmm, I'll try that. Thanks.

I'm very confused but I have a few things to say. First of all, I am a Sims3 player (sims2 also) and the first thing I do as a Sims player is NOT use the launcher or downloader if I can help it. I don't use any launchers, not for Fallout, Mass Effect, Oblivion or Dragon Age. I do everything I can to bypass the launcher.

You can to. Just go to Program Files\Dragon Age\bin_ship\daorigins the daorigins is an icon of a sheild and it is the .exe file you need to start the game. Right click on it and Send to Desktop (create shortcut). Once you have that icon on the desktop, try starting the game from that. When the game starts you'll see your options like Resume, New Game etc, look for Downloadable Content. Click on that and you should now see some tabs, you want the tab that says Installed Content. The mods you install from the DAZip or DAUpdater or DAMod manager will show up there. If you uncheck one of the boxes and go into the game, you'll get a force load message. You don't have to have an "official" DLC to access the Installed Content, just have a mod that is installed via any of the methods I described. If you have a mod that is installed via the My Documents\Bioware\Dragon Age\packages\core\override folder, those mods don't show up in the Installed Content and if you remove them, they do not give a Force Load message.

Like I said, I'm really confused as to your problem but I hope this might clear a little bit up. I avoid using launchers at all costs, only when I have to do I actually use them. For the Sims3, I use the 3booter to start that game, I don't even use the .exe file. Anything from EA is bad, especially their launchers and download managers! Very bad!

I think this is most likely the problem.

Otherwise it wouldnt be an issue about the dlc. it would just go ahead and forceload the savegame.

I ran into that problem, it was so frustrating. Found I had to go into the DA folder and reinstall all the DLCs I had in there. After that, no problems. Don't know if that's your problem, but it's a thot if nothing else works.
