simonquick
the first one is when it closes out of the game and comes up with the send error report, the second one is when it minimizes the game and when i got to click on it only the top quarter shows, the last one (the worst one) is when the WHOLE computer shuts down, gets rid of everything on the save i was on so i got nothing, no map markers, no clothes. and then i have to go back to a really old save and start the quest i was on all over again. can you help me stop these? p.s if i try going into the game and coming out, i usually have no sound. fap6000
Fallout 3 isn't Alt tab, or task manager friendly. If you must exit for whatever reason. Then the only place it won't crash is at the load game screen, on the main loading screen. This sort of pauses fallout. It's not safe everytime you do it. Maybe 1 in 3 will still crash you. It even says in the fallout 3 read me, that it's not alt tab friendly. Crash on exit could be linked to having too much data on your desktop. I myself only keep shortcuts on the desktop an that's it. At the very most I might have meshes an textures for the current mod I'm working one, but beyond that it's small time. You can check this amount by going to documents an settings, user name, desktop That desktop file is the size I mean. If it's too big then you'll crash every time you exit. Recenly I found that you can also crash on exit if you died in-game an pressed Esc before it auto loads, or double loaded a save, an created some chaos fighting only to die an press esc before autoload. Which suggests that this crash on exit is from a game that is currently going corupt for one reason or another. The other one sounded like you crash when you try to save. I can't be sure from what you said, but you said it was the worst one, an I put two an two together. Crash on save as well as crash on fast travel is linked to corupted save games. You can run around for an hour or more while your game is crashing an you not know it yet. When you save durring this time it locks that coruption into the savegame, an ruins it. There's ways to avoid this ever happening.
poopoopapa
What ways are those? As in what ways are there to avoid locking in corruption into the save games?
Burbinator
If you have savegame issues I recommend using CASM (it's on thenexus). rather than using one save game slot, it rotates between 50+ to avoid bloating or corruption. I always get crash on exit, no idea how to fix it altho you might try bmultithreadaudio=0 in the fallout.ini. Didn't work for me but is reported to help other people. and yeah, like above poster said, dont alt tab. silly idea to do. However, you can try to run fallout3 in a window INSTEAD of fullscreen which obviously lets you switch between programs more easily. Try a google search for it
Oxpox
Hey all - I am looking for advice on how to tweak my system to rid it of stuttering. My system has plenty of power;Dell Precision | M6400 - WorkstationWin - 7 / 64 BitIntel Core 2 Extreme CPU Q9300 @ 2.53G8G RamnVIDIA Quadro FX 3700M, 1G Dedicated MemRunning 186.81 nVidia driverAlso Utilizing - Ready Boost, 3G Enabler... yet I am still unable to make the correct adjustments to rid my play time of jittering and stuttering as I wander the waste land. I understand that the Vid Card is designed for CAD/3-D modeling apps, which is what I use for during the day. I am just hoping to hear that I can tweak it in a manner to play this one game. That I've been playing since Fallout first came out. If I need to post somewhere else please notify me of such a relocation. Thanks. Ox ps, Question #2; Is anyone willing to give me some pointers / help in using GECK to put a Vertibird type vehicle to place in my games? I am quite handy with Autodesk Maya/Inventor. Thanks again. Burbinator
First of all: make your own thread, don't hijack other peoples'. Anyway, check out fallout stutter remover http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8886 also fo3 ram boost. normally FO3 is capped at how much ram it can use, so currently not all 8 of your gigs are being utilized http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12031 other than that you want to update all your drivers and generally play around with settings. however, I imagine once you get the fo3 ram boost you'll be fine... 8 gigs is a ton
Oxpox
Never meant to hijack this thread. My apologies. I'm already using Ram Boost. I'll check out the stutter remover. Thanks for the suggestions.
