Dragon age companion mod

Is there a mod that will level up my companions automatically, but in a good way (not the default auto level, that one sucks). I like to min-max everything but doing it for 4 characters at a time is too much of a chore. And is there a mod that will have my party members use all the spells (like that tactics thingy but I'm not really understanding it that much).

I'm not aware of any mod that auto-levels companions differently than the Bioware default... probably because one person's 'good' is another person's 'sucks'. The usefulness of skills and talents is very subjective (and even playthrough dependent... when I'm playing a sword-and-board warrior, I don't need Alistair to be a tank. If my Warden is a healer with a side of crowd control, I don't need either of those things from Morrigan and she can be all damage, all the time.)

And what exactly are you referring to when you say 'all the spells' and 'that tactics thingy'?

Well, by that tactics thingy I'm referring to the tactics button that you can set SOME skills to be used. But there's only like 4 slots, and if I want to say tell morrigan to heal alistair when below 75% and others below 50% I have to waste 2 slots for one skill. I'd like a mod that makes companions "smart" should I say, so that they use appropriate skills, not trying to melee someone while there's a dude near death 5 feet away that could use a heal.

Ah. More tactics slots are unlocked as the characters level, and additional slots can be unlocked for a character by investing skill points in Combat Tactics. If that's not soon enough, there is at least one mod that unlocks multiple tactics slots at once: Unlock All 25 Tactic Slots. Custom Number of Tactics Slots allows for an even greater number of slots, and IIRC, can be customized to give all at once or slots-unlock-on-levelling. (And a search here on DA Nexus using the terms 'tactic' and 'tactics' will surely give you additional modding options to chose from.

There are also mods that allow for more complex tactics setups; again, the one I've used is Advanced Tactics. There is also a newer revision of that mod, which I have not tried: Even More Advanced Tactics.

There may also be something that improves companion AI, but the mod I use and would ordinarily recommend was pulled from release by its author.

And as always, I recommend playing through at least once without installing mods that alter the combat and gameplay mechanics.
