Lehcar
I have the screenshot button set to F8, but I keep mashing that button into oblivion but my Screenshots/User folder remains empty. Why are none of my screenshots taking? What's going on and how do I fix it? I just want to take some photos in the character creator, I don't know why I can't take any screens
danscott84
That is interesting. I know thaat for my laptop I cannot use the ~ key to bring up the console. This I found out was due to the Windows Media Center program that I have to turn completely off to make the ~ work in the game. I wonder if your F8 problem has a similar root cause. DarkeWolf
Thanks for the vote of confidence Dan  maybe its a conflict in your keybindings.ini file. This is the file that records which keys are used as shortcut for which function. Tho you really dont have to check that file you can just hunt thru your options menu to see if another key is set to use f8. also, is your F-lock active? some keyboards have one, some don't. Oh! CHARACTER CREATOR! (geeze yeah, it does help to re-read the question after an hour and a half of taking tests....!) I dont think that Character Creator accesses the keybindings.ini file, so it doesnt have a key to record screenshots. You either have to run a screenshot prog like SnapIt or hold the alt + PrtScn key to put the snap to clipboard. then open up a photoeditor like paint or Photoshop. File/new, create a new pic, and then PASTE from the clipboard into the new picture. (printscreen (prtscn) key should be over by your f12 key, tho some kybrds move it a couple buttons further away. On the CC that's not always the case. I am able to hit my print screen key like in the game and get the same type of screenshots. But I bet the keybindings.ini is on track. DarkeWolf
Ok, I just got home and tested this. It depends on which character creator you use. I tested this out on both of them. The CC that is an actual part of the game does indeed take screenshots off of my prtscn key. The one that I downloaded as a standalone program... does not. So Lehcar, if you're using the standalone CC program, you're gonna have to do it the old fashioned way, or switch over to the in-game CC to take the screenies. If you're using the ingame CC, check the options to make sure that you dont have another key also tied in to your F8 key.

I started with the Steam version (worthless) which had them seperate. I junked them and have the dvd version which is so much nicer and versatile. (Steam also hated the toolset)
DarkeWolf
Sounds like steam version is a pain in the rump to me. There's still a lot that I don't know about that version, but it sounds like they really effed it up. I was kinda thinking that it (the standalone) doesnt use the OC files, because I've got my OC game set up to NOT play those logo splash screens at load. IE- no BW and EA logo. The standalone Does play them.
