Genzel
Every time I attempt to transfer a .blend file into .nif format with the Oblivion settings, things go haywire. Half of the faces are gone or are just mirrored by other sides, and sometimes just a few faces are missing. Links to pictures of the most recent and most dramatic example are below. The original as it appears in blender: http://www.imagebam.com/image/6467cc82015592 The destroyed .nif converted file: http://www.imagebam.com/image/367bcf82015590 Also and unrelated: Can I get a blender to Oblivion texturing tutorial link for blender 2.49 (the tutorials relating to earlier blender versions don't work out). ecksile
To fix faces go into edit mode and ctrl-n to recalculate the normals to outside or ctrl-f to flip the normals (though i would only suggest this if ctrl-n doesn't fix all the faces you will have to manually flip the incorrect ones). Add new materials to the mesh for missing faces could be a shader problem. All i can think of.
Genzel
That fixed all but a few faces in a small area. Would texturing of the object fix this? EDIT: ctrl-f fixed the ones not fixed by ctrl-n, but it also changed a few other nearby faces to not look right.
ecksile
You should check the faces and make sure that normals are indeed facing the correct direction. Texturing wont help i dont think because if its not seeing the face there will be nothing for the texture to be applied to. Id check your materials and make a new one. Genzel
I don't know what normals are, but there is no material for the mesh at all yet.
ecksile
you will have to CTRL-F the ones not fixed by hand each one. What CTRL-N does is recalculates all the faces to face in the correct direction what CTRL-F does is flips the faces. CTRL-N doesnt always properly calculate the faces correctly so you have to go in manually and flip the incorrect faces. EDIT-Normals are just another name for faces. Genzel
okay, that makes sense. So the normal is which side of the face nifskope determines to be visible. And the faces which were not seem from the proper way just so happened to be moved instead of flipped and rotated. Thank you very much! It is working out now.
