Riddleofsteel
Previously when I played Dragon Age, the draw distance and texture detail at a distance was fine. I could be across the party camp from someone and run to them and have the detail be full the whole way. Now, for some reason, when I run up to anyone from afar, they start as low-detailed and the higher detail textures "snap" in when I get closer. It never used to happen and it's getting on my nerves. Could this be caused by a dual-gpu video card? I think it might have happened when I had a single gpu too (changed video cards this month). I defragment regularly and I'm not using any "high res" files in my game. Any ideas what causes this? Thank you for any help.
RustyBlade
It does it in my game too. I zap someone from a distance with the Wand of Fun (takes their clothes off) and they are in their underwear; move closer and they are naked. As far as the details go, my eyes aren't good enough to notice the difference in the armor (I'm not going to game with reading glasses so I will probably never notice.) I have a dual-GPU card as well.
danscott84
This is caused by length of distance (LOD) files for the textures. Most modded textures only deal with close distance, and as the farther you go the game reverts to the corresponding LOD file. If the modded texture did not have corresponding LOD files when downloaded, then you will only see these at a close distance, then the vanilla LOD files the farther away you are from the object. I think when talking to Firinneach a while back he mentioned there are three distinct LOD type files. When he did his A Little Leg Combined Mesh mod, he also made optional LOD files for his textures to be seen at least at a medium distance.
agripus
I'm having this exact same issue.. is there any fix for this?
Riddleofsteel
Nothing I've seen or tried yet has fixed this. I don't remember it being so noticeable when I first put mods in my game late last year.
untamedfuture
Ive been having this exact same issue not only on mods but on every npc in the game. Ive played through DA many many times and it's only on my most recent playthrough that it started happening. I'm not sure why it is happening either, I haven't added any new mods or anything. It just started happening seemingly out of nowhere. Its really really getting on my nerves. Anyone have a fix for this? Please let me know.
