Profile pages/last visit dates don't tell too much. A while a go I had send a PM to an author of a mod that hadn't been there for more than 2 years, he replied in 2 days. It's more to worry about the fact if they have their email notification enabled and are still using that email :).

 

Basically it didn't state too much about permission but it did told about recolouring. Next to contacting I'd just sufficiently credit if you don't get a reply after a while.

I need some help with a piece of writing. At one point the player will traverse some old and horrific ruins.

 

The idea is that this has been in existence for 500 or so years. I need a very disturbing note for the player to find next to a skeleton.

 

The main thing that I want is to work in this quote from the novel:

 

"There was nothing but the liveliest awfulness in that which they raised up from what they could gather only part of..."

 

The note is written by a slave, one of thousands that the owner of the ruins bought and tortured to death and then tested his necromancy techniques on them, a very long time ago.

 

Their must also be reference to some of the ambient noises, the near endless shrieking that continues throughout the dungeon.

 

I just can't match the tone of voice of that somewhat eloquent sentence from the novel with a broken down tone of sheer terror the note is meant to convey.

 

The quote could be paraphrased.

I'm just going to move ahead and give credit with a disclaimer saying I'll remove it if the author objects.

 

It's a single mesh and not playable, though. So, if you really want glasses in Oblivion you'll have to download the original.

Well, it's the weekend, so I'll get to working on the note tomorrow. Can't today, as I spent all of yesterday tearing out old plumbing and putting in new plumbing, and and just plumb exhausted.

 

I'll read some Lovecraft and watch In the Mouth of Madness for research, though. That'll help.

Now, I had a very strange idea, and I'm not sure how to go about it.

 

Would it be possible to make everything on screen in black and white?

 

The idea is rather than let you learn about the ancestor which the title character is studying,

you are given a special charm which lets you take on the body of his nemesis, and you get to act

out the past, up to a certain point. To make things more dramatic everything would be in black and white.

 

I would assume there are only 2 real options:

 

1. Re-texture absolutely everything and make it a separate world-space so there's no color in any of the textures.

 

2. Edit some sort of shader

 

I know that 1 would work, but is 2 a possibility?

Don't think so... but do feel free to ask experts.

 

You could, though, have the hit shader triggered so everything looks shaky. I think Sumyaz was fond of doing that with his flashbacks.

Also, Heart of the Dead had a red vision shader, so you could examine it for hints; ask the modder.

YEAHHH :D :D :D Oh, I can't be happier dude's I'm sat in a damn tent, it's damp and drizzley outside my GF is in the the tent just next to mine and Download have just brought in this huge bell that says AC/DC on it, apparently Stone Sour are due to play I CANNOT WAIT!!!!
