Warmachine32
I've been pulling my hair out with this one for a while now. For some reason most of the NPCs in Oblivion are missing their voices. Default Oblivion, most of them are missing greetings or idle chat. In Shivering Isles, the Dark Seducers and Golden Saints are missing most of their dialogue, and most other NPCs are missing greetings. I've tried reinstalling, I have Archive invalidation set to BSA redirection, I've tried re-arranging my load order with BOSS, and I've tried using the construction set to find the problem. I'm also using Windows 7, using the non-Steam version, and have tried installing outside of the default installation path. So far, no luck. If anyone could help me out with this it would be appreciated. David Brasher
You might try looking at your conflict report in Oblivion Mod Manager. Set it to show even the most minor of conflicts. Look at all of the mods that have conflicts relating to various dialog topics, and systematically disable them to see if you can isolate the bad mod. Then you can send a very unhappy message to the mod author, and delete the bad mod from your system.
Warmachine32
Unfortunately, that didn't work. According to the conflict detector, only two mods had conflicts in relation to dialogue, and disabling them didn't fix anything. Guess I'll fiddle around with my mods tomorrow. David Brasher
Your mod list is not terribly huge. I recommend turning off half of them and seeing if the problem goes away. If it does not, turn off half of the remaining part. Continue on like this until the problem goes away. Keep careful records of what you turned off when. When the problem goes away, you will know the problem mod was in the last batch, and you can systematically reinstall them a few at a time until the problem returns. You might be able to isolate the bad mod in eight steps. There is the possibility that this is a replacer problem. You may have to move or rename-to-disable voice files associated with your mods. Some poorly-constructed mod could have replaced vanilla Oblivion dialog with nothingness files. Removing or renaming the files will make the game revert to vanilla Oblivion and give you your voices back. If the .esps are not messing you up, then this problem very well could be.
