Arcanist
I wanted a classic pointy wizard hat, like Gandalf's hat in the LoTR movies, so i decided to make one. I called my hat "Mindpeak". Blender screenshots here When i put my hat in game it looks great :) except being a helmet it removes hair and ears :( I'm thinking of adding a "curtain" to the mesh that wraps around the neck and ears to cover up the fact that they are'nt there. Also I'll try loading the nif into a ring slot and see if that works and what clipping problems arise, will test it out when i get home from work. Anyone got any thoughts on making hats that dont cover ears and long hair?
Arcanist
Well i tried adding a "curtain" to my mesh around the back of the neck and ears to cover them up, It worked but it looked terrible. I tried using my hat in the right ring slot. I had to rotate and shift the mesh to make it sit in the right place. Also had to scale it up a touch to avoid hair clipping through the hat. It looks really good with the hair and ears in place. However there is still a problem. In first person view when you swing a weapon or block with a sheild you see part of the hat fly across the screen. I'm guessing becuase its in the ring slot and your hands move when you block or swing a weapon that the game is moving my hat model the same way it would move any ring. Tonight I'll try using the lower body slot. Everyone knows that wizards dont wear pants under their robes so that slot should be free and their shouldnt be any problems with lower body meshes flying around in first person view.
