kieranfoy
Yep, 'tis true. I'm officially working, albeit slowly, on the 40k project, and just had an absolutely fabulous idea for a robe. Simply this: a gloved robe (ie Mythic Dawn) using the UFF mesh, that was a dark red in color, with one hand a glove as normal, but the other covered with a silver version of the Dewer gauntlet, so that the character wearing the robe had a metal fist. Possibly another version, with gauntlet retextured to a rust color, such as this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/zooboing/4288197809/, and aslightly tattered and stained look for the robe itself. Seperate version with the Adeptus Mechanicus symbol on them would also be awesome. Sorry to sound so rushed and demanding. I myself am working hard, having already started on a home inspired by the Adeptus, called the Haven Mechanical. Thanks for your time! Ciao. zprospero
I can make the re-texture of the robe and the gauntlet, but I'm afraid I don't know how to rig them to a skeleton so it will move correctly. Although, I could cut the hand of the robe mesh, cut off the left(?) gauntlet, and adjust the gauntlet mesh so that it won't clip through the robe... Actually, I think I can do this. Is it a problem if you have to equip the gauntlet and robe separately? You'll actually have to equip them both for it to look right. If I do it this way when the glove is not equipped the hand will render through the other (cloth) glove because the robe can't occupy the hand slot. Of course, if someone could rig it to the skeleton properly this little workaround wouldn't be necessary.
kieranfoy
Well, thanks you! And thanks you, and thank you. Omnissiah bless your computer, and keep your strong modding hand steady! I suppose you should to whatever you think best, since I have no idea what it is you mean. I do know that if you have technical difficulties adding the gauntlet to the robe mesh, you could always ask on the help thread. There are many people all too willing to help, and it'd probably be good to learn. In fact, at times I have to fend off people offering modelling advice. Gets a bit overwhelming. zprospero
Well, I managed to merge the mesh. Still having difficulties though. Progress is slow. But I'll get it before too long. http://i816.photobucket.com/albums/zz84/zprospero/mergedTest01.jpg After I get this technique working the way I want I'll use it on the UFF mesh. kieranfoy
Aw, dude! Go, Z! I knew I liked you, man. Er, not just for what you make for me, though, 'cause I like who you are, too. So, do you think you'll be able to use this technique for other things?
zprospero
Ideally. If this works then I should be able to combine any armor/clothing meshes, and tweak them (hopefully), while allowing the player to wear them and have them animate properly. As long as the tweaking doesn't go overboard, it should be quite easy to do.
