Crashing in citadel

Recommended Posts

Hello all, I've gotten really into Fallout 3 and have been enjoying myself. I've been trying to progress the main story so that I could finally wear some powered armor but there's a problem. When I have to find Dr.Li and talk to her about project purity, she's not in the rivet city lab. She's somehow in the citadel. So at first I thought "okay, whatever. Maybe displaced NPC big deal" But it does turn out to be a big deal because anytime I try to enter the citadel I see the Doctor standing right there in the middle of the court yard. Problem is that I can't spend more than 3 seconds inside without crashing. I've been tearing my hair out at this because I invested alot of time into the game until this point and I wanted to continue it. any help guys? Here's my load order:

you can try to move directly to dr. li (I assume she's in the citadel lab, right? which means you might not ctd). player.moveto 00019fc5 in console is what you want.

Or, move dr. li to you. type prid 00019fc5, then moveto player.

if that doesn't work, create a new dr. li with player.placeleveledactoratme 000156cc

Or, you can just skip this section of the quest (it's entirely unnecessary) and just go to vault 112 on your own.

As for th crashing in the citadel, well the first thing you should always do with a large amount of mods is create a merged patch for stability. Download FO3Edit, open it up with all the mods you want to load, then right click -> create merged patch. Check merged patch in FOMM, then close it and rename FO3Edit to FO3MasterUpdate and run it. Now, hopefully, mod conflicts will not cause you to CTD. This is just an overall way to improve stability, worth a shot at least. If you're running a quad core there is another method of improving stability.

finally, if you cannot stop the CTDs, my advice would be disabling FOOK. Your crashes are almost certainly because of mods and FOOK is the only one that modifies that worldspace, so it is quite likely the culprit. I have not used it, but according to public opinion, it is significantly more unstable, depending on your system. Also, I'm not sure FOOK and FWE are fully compatible with the latest versions of each, not sure if that might be causing problems.

First try removing mods.

One thing Marts Mutant Mod says it should load directly after Fallout.esm.

You have it way down the list.

Disable all the mods that don't add any items you are using/need at the moment.

Not sure why you are running the unofficial patch.

Just update with the official 1.7.

Do you need all those DCInteriors?

Doesn't the combo edition contain all them already?

I could be wrong, but I thought it did, else I'd have installed all the others to.

Disable those for now.

Just disable whole packs of mods until you don't crash.

UF3P does more than 1.7 does, however bill did hit upon a point (albeit by accident) since I believe FWE fixes many of the issues that UF3P does and therefore UF3P is unnecessary.

bill is also wrong about the .esm placement, MMM is in the right place (after FWE) as recommended by FOIP.
