Modded Oblivion

I've been craving some oblivion recently and have decided to reinstall the game. I've lurked through teh interwebs and have found around 225 mods that I plan on using. My real question is how I should start this painful undertaking of getting all these mods working together. I'm looking for help from people who have installed a bunch of mods at once and general tips that make installing mods as easy as possible.

What I have now:

  • Oblvion GOTY Edition - Steam (Does this comes with Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine?)
  • DLC (Horse Armor Pack, Mehrunes Razor, Orrery, Spell Tomes, Thieves Den, Vile Lair, Wizard's Tower, The Fighters Stronghold) Not sure if I'm missing any
  • The Unofficial Patches (Unofficial Oblivion Patch v3.2.0, Unofficial Official Mods Patch v1.5, Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch v.1.4.0)
  • The Utilities (TES4 Edit, Wrye Bash 275, OBMM 1.1.12, Boss 1.5.2 with the Masterlist Update 2010-05-6, OBSE 0018 with ALGOHOL Pluggy NifScript and RefStuff)
  • FCOM and all the necessary files for it (MMM, OOO, OWC EV, Fran)
  • The rest of the mods I plan on using all organized nicely in their respective folders

So where do I start?

Does the steam version work with obse? yes sweet

After installing the game and applying all the official patches what do I do, install obse, install the unofficial patches, install the DLC, or install FCOM?

After all that is sorted out how should I go about installing the rest of the mods: OBMM or Wrye Bash, I know .omod requires OBMM so I'll have to use it for those but for the others that are just a zip file is there a real difference between the two utilities or is it just preferences and familiarity?

Which types of mods should I install first? I would assume game play changes are installed earlier and item additions are installed later but idk.

If mods can be used through the merged patch should I not install them through obmm?

Any answers or links to places where I could find the answers to these questions would be awesome!

OBSE works fine with it now (I'm also a happy steam owner. Just be sure to enable steam-community.) . So scrap that second notice of your list before you get in trouble here please. OBMM allows you to manage mods more easily as it's a one-click install/deletion if their are made into a .omod. It's worth the time learning how to do it as afterwards you'll love the ease.

Take a look here for a few common things. If you scroll down you can find info about load-lists.

Proceed in this order:

Install Oblivion, Shivering Isles and official patch 1.2.416 (you've already done this, I believe)

Install the official plugins (again, already done)

Install Unofficial Patches

Install FCOM (Note you will need to DL an updated USIP ESP for Fran's mod to work in SI)

Install everything else
