Tool Set - Item List Help

I recently started playing and after beating the game I decided I wanted to play it through again but with the ability to tweak certain aspects such as inventory and what not.

I downloaded the Toolset and began messing around with the save game files not really knowing what I was doing.

Things I figured out how to do.

-Alter Experience - Pretty easy

-Alter number of stat points

-Alter number of skill points

-How to add certain abilities (or all abilities)

-How to increase inventory size, and to max out stacks of items.

-How to tweak how the other toons feel about me, and max that out, as well as increase all the stats.

However there are still many things I would like to do that I have not quite figured out yet.

ITEMS.

1. Is there a database that I can access that has all the item codes so that I can insert a particular item that I wish, or must I simply create the item that I want?

2. Is there a way to make an item infinite, such as arrows, health pots, elkroot, etc.

and that is pretty much it.

I only ask because I want to play the game through again, semi-legit, the only tweaks I would like to make are to stack sizes, and perhaps some different items that I can not find with the vendors.

Heyas, welcome to the nexus forums! Glad to see somebody new around that has some experience already

You might take a look at HDHD's additem script. http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1131

It runs via console command so you can add the stuff in-game, via the console. He's got a link there, that can guide you to the page where you can set up your console, if you havent already done so.

As for infinite items, I'm not really sure if it can be done with expendables like arrows. I know that a stack can be altered to go to 99. I do know that items like readable books can be made to be infinite (the read something like x1 or 1x). However, those are custom made items, not savegame mods. And like I said, I dunno if it could be done on items like arrows.

(and dont ask me how they made the infinite books, I have no idea, LOL).

Thank you for the info. I messed around with it for about 3 hours last night until I got burnt out of loading and saving. I am considering writing a tuturial on how to use the Toolset, for general editing. One that makes sense anyways. I discovered last night that I can actually alter the stacks up to "999" without causing any crashes or performance issues with the game. So while it may not be infinite my archer now has close to 1000 arrows to sling around without me having to worry about a reload for a while.

I have also figured out how to unlock all the talents for party members on top of doing it for ones own character. I will read up on the link you gave me, and take a stab at actually using the console in game, that may be easier than actually editing the saves game files.

Not a problem at all. I like to help out when I can

Hmmmm. Interesting. I didnt know that you could go as high as 999 on a stack. Only that the game restarted a new stack if you hit 99. I did however know that you could set your backpack to hold 999 items.

hahahaha yeah, dont you just hate it when you run outta ammo? (tho, at least with this game, it just defaults you down to generic arrows. not like morrowind where I was suddenly standing there NOT attacking, when I ran outta arrows).

I think that you will find the console MUCH easier for stocking your inventory. Hit one key on your keyboard, type in your code, and your amount, and hit enter. Want to put arrows on Leli too? Click on her, hit that key on your keyboard, and repeat.

His script can also be upgraded with new items. Say that you've got one of the armors/weapons/gear mods that are stubborn about loading on your character. Just add their itemnames to the script, compile it in the toolcrap, and there ya go

One thing to mention. I know that it mentions this on the wiki page where the instructions are, to activate the console. But there is an issue with the console where the lettering doesnt always show up. You can fix this, by copying the font into such and such folder. It has a link for instructions on that, there on the wiki page.

I will also make mention that if you use the console cheat to add a member to your party, BEFORE you have actually recruited them... you won't be able to recruit them. I know it mentions that on the wiki page, but I just wanted to reiterate it

Another bit of advice. When making new characters. Deactivate all your mods before you actually load them up into the game. (Including Awakening, if you have it). I mentioned issues with some gear not showing up. Deactivating them before you load the new character can really help to avoid that issue. Just play the toon til you get to a point where you can save. Then shut down, reactivate your mods, and load your save.

A good walkthrough on savegame editing would be REALLY nice to have. If you decide to do that, don't post it in a thread. They dont sticky threads here. Do it as an article. http://www.dragonagenexus.com/members/articles/post.php

Just make sure to turn wordwrap off in notepad (if you type it up in notepad before hand) before copy and paste to the article. Wordwrap doesnt translate correctly into the text box. (I found that out the hard way....)
