complete newb problem

Recommended Posts

Ok, i've never installed mods or done anything with oblivion except try and play it vanilla.. I'll try to make this short and sweet. This is what i've got so far (not much)

http://img94.imageshack.us/img94/1526/workinprogressv.jpg

For some reason the mod on the right of the obmm screen (female Eyecandy) doesn't show up in the data section of the oblivion start menu, nor does it appear to have any effect on my game. so that is problem number one.

the biggest issue is that i don't understand the directions for installing HG EyeCandy Body. more specifically, the very first instruction on the OBMM ReadMe baffles me: Create the OMOD (Do this section only once)

I have no idea what that means, i tried Googling "create an omod" and read up most of the page before deciding i have no idea how to apply the info from that to installing this mod. I literally can't figure out what goes where, and why there are so many stinking folders with only a single item in them. I was hoping the OMOD conversion data folder would have something in it that would make this a bit easier, but all it had was the config and screenshot files, which apparently don't run with any program i posess, then info.txt and a script.txt files.

anyways, i hope some one can decipher this, and give me some sort of direction, i've already posted on the actual comment page for HGec asking for assistance, but i figured i'd get help quicker by asking in multiple places.

If I remember correctly it does not give you any esp's. It just installs meshes and textures for Exnem. You need to kill a female bandit and loot her corpse to notice this if you are playing a male character. the ayleid ruin across lake Rumare from the Imperial Sewers exit is a good place to look. for HGEC you will need php?id 15802 and a clothing and armor replacer.I always recommend Eve php?id 24078 because it is an OMOD too.

well i try being a female character, and i don't notice a difference, i tried just copying over all the meshes and textures from the HGEC atheletic folder, but it certainly does not look like an athletic body type. its lumpy and kind of scary.. so it definetly isn't working

1 Click create button. 2. Select add archive. 3. pick the file for hgec from your downloads file. 4. A small box pops up-click on yes. 5. click on the create omod button. 6 wait for OBMM to create the OMOD. 7 Activate your new OMOD and test the available options for HGEC.

Thanks Yeldarb! you make it look so simple :P

Ok, it looks like i got several of the mods running alright, my only question now is (and its a really dumb one) How the hell can i get my camera to look at the front of my character?? Apparently the game's 3rd person doesn't allow you to swing your camera around 360 degrees

Based on your screen shot HGEC is installed properly. As already said, It does not have an esp so will not show up on the left side. The face is not part of the body. The body seen in the pics from the mod has a extra texture mod installed. You will probably not notice any difference in body unless it is completely undressed. As clothing does not Cover the body part - it Replaces it. If you put on a shirt, there is NO body underneath. That's why you must use the proper clothing mods for a particular mod to see the body shape you expect.

Re: camera. Press the center mouse button and hold (Scroll wheel) to move the camera view move the mouse while holding. when you release it will go back to the standard view.

All of you are wizards, as well as scholars. Now i just have to fiddle around with face mods and figure them out, or work really really hard at making a face i can bear to look at when entering my inventory.

thanks again for your prompt and helpful replies
