Darksparkrul
i was wondering if it would be possible to create a bladebow. what i mean by this is two daggers that could then be combined into a bow without changing the weapon set so you could use archery talents then instantly do a dual weapon talent edit:or in retrospect something like this bowhttp://fc04.deviantart.net/fs44/f/2009/153/5/0/Blade_Bow_by_Dragon_Kiss.jpg
en4cer
Hmm i must say, i love your idea and the bow.errrrr well the bow more so than the idea coz with a simple press of a task button you can swap your range weapon to melee without any loss of time at all so it would be obsolete to make a special talent and/or bow like that. I still love the look of the bow tho :)
DarkeWolf
a very interesting idea, but not possible by the mechanics that you're talking about. You just cant make a weapon that counts as a bow, and say... a sword or dagger. You can create a bow looking sword. Heck, while they were jacking around, the developers made a dog sword. a sword using the dog mesh. But you just can't create an item that is dual category and can run more than one type of attacks. It would be feasible to create two identical weapons, one which was a bow, and one which was a blade. However, they would still be two seperate weapons... would take up both weapon spots 1&2, and would have to be switched in order to go from shooting to swinging. Which isn't what you're wanting. Now, in some OTHER games, its possible to SIMULATE a blade that shoots arrows. Via scripted attacks. Attacks which are either timed (IE run off a timer. it shoots, waits 2 seconds, and shoots again) or are scripted via hotkey or right/left click menu. This particular game however, a programmer would have to script an entire engine to handle such a thing, as the DA core has no such engine for handling those kind of left/right click behaviors. Or create a script for this particular weapon that says "Show such and such effect at such and such interval, and do a do damage at the selected target acter the effect." but it wouldn't truely be a bow. it would only be a programmed attack. (Not that I know how to write such a script, particularly in C++).
Darksparkrul
thanks for the replies and i see what you mean. i have played other games where that was feasible and i was just wondering if it was possible in dao
DarkeWolf
Yeah, unfortunately.... as much as I love this game... their engine is taking quite a bit to figure out, and so far we're pretty limited on what we can do with it. Tho, the more that I got to thinking about it... if it could be done, it would probably be better to script a bow that does random DW attacks. Like- if target range = 0 run the attack for skill xxx; xxx ; xxx; and whatnot. with either a set order that they'd fire off, or throw in a randomizer.Tho like I said, I havent a clue on how to script that for DAO.
