Problem regarding FOEdit / Face Im/Export

Hi,

my goal is to get my PC-morph on the head of a yet-to-build-NPC. I tried editing the 3 hex rows in FOEdit using the therefore modified Exchanger (shift-doubleclicked, the whole lines went in there) to read them out of my savegame. unfortunally my head did not appear when opening the esp later on in geck, CTD.

I guess the problem is that my PC has a custom race, since it told me it could not find the reference for my race when i was reopening the foedited esp in geck.

So I worked directly with the mod that added that race, therefore expanded it, to be sure that the racial info was available within the same eps. The error message disappeared, yet the import still does not look right at all (default).

Has anyone experience on how to solve this? Thank you!

Ok since my custom race is a mere copy of a default one (for face retexturing) I tried to apply the hex data from face exchange on a npc with the default race. It indeed changed, but just does not look like my character. Im all out of ideas now.

this is the racemod i was talking about:

http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5726

as soon as i create a npc or switch an existing one to this race, its ctd on loading, even though i checked [x] can be any race in the npcs 1st tab...

i also tried pasting the savegame morph into facegen demo by using face exchange in its original version which stated this ability as feature. yet it neither worked this way.

i made some progress. it seems the problems where partially based on a mistake of mine, i didnt check "female" after creating my new npc, thats what f'd up my morphing. i dont give it the custom race but the default one so it wont crash yet the morph stays true to my pc.

yet 2 problems remain;

1) i cant change the npcs hairstyle to what i want even after drag-dropping it into the hairstyle list of the default race. it appears in geck, but not ingame. its marked as playable and works just fine on my pc.

this is my hairstyle mod: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=10515

2) the default skin of the body is way brighter than that of the custom race which uses the same base model and texture. after foediting my pc face in, its color is alright but the body doesnt adept to it and stays bright. how can i change this?

thank you.

Hello!

I think you have to update your masterfiles. Use FO3edit. Create a shortcut and enter "- masterupdate" behind the filepath to start FO3edit with the masterupdate parameter. It runs automatically, just wait until it´s finished. I´m not sure, but it could happen that your mod-esp is marked as master after this. I haven´t figured out how to set it back to plugin file yet. My problem here is, i can´t edit the mod file in GECK afterwards. So, the save way is to update the masters after u finished your mod and keep a copy for editing.

thank you for your idea; sadly it did not work, problems unchanged. )-:

i solved it; the white body problem was a bug which was fixable by setting the esm flag (i used fomm instead). the custom race on npc keeps crashing even when esm, so i used default human. the hair: i set the model and texture of my custom hair to be used by one of the defaults.

not a real solution but a workaround.
