Poindexter1985
I really like the look of Morrigan's starting robe - to me, she just doesn't look like Morrigan without it. This is especially so since most of the other robes look pretty... meh. I'd love to see a mod that makes it so no matter what you equip on Morrigan, she looks like she's still wearing her own robe. Is this doable? Or perhaps it already been done and I failed to find it?
DarkeWolf
Heyas Poindexter, welcome to the nexus forums  I hate to have to give you bad news on your first post here. But unfortunately... such a thing isnt possible as far as I know. The reason is because anything that you put on a character, replaces their body from the shoulders down to the lower knees. It doesnt just cover it up, it actually replaces everything from the neck down, their upper arms, and mid-length legs. Its feasible tho. I mean, if somebody wanted to go thru and make a version of every single female clothing that used the mora robes model. But thats like... at least a week's worth of work, minimum. Your best bet, is to dl and install the winter forge- http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=122that way, you can mod out (In game) her robes to whatever stats you want them to have. If you want to have a spare for her, you can install the Witch Hunter mod, which adds a short adventure where you can pick up some new gear specifically for morrigan. http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=345 Anyways, welcome aboard, and happy gaming! It looks awesome - it's a damned good bet, indeed! It also addressed one other complaint I have, being that most of the head gear in the game looks terrible, and the armor that I think looks most attractive is usually not the best in terms of stats. Thanks for pointing it out.
DarkeWolf
Poindexter- no problem at all! Yeah, the forge is an awesome mod to have. Tho I'll warn you of a couple of things. 1) Its definitely got the capability to create "god" items. So you kinda need to go easy with the bonuses, until you get a feel for how the bonuses really do affect your characters.2) There's a bit of a learning curve associated with it. Stardusk did some video tutorials on it's usage here- http://thenexusforums.com/index.php?showtopic=2081383) The forge is somewhat addictive! After a while some of us get to where we spend more time working on the forge than we do, spending time talking to the characters in the party, hahaha. Yeah, I know what you mean. Some of the headgear is just rediculous. Particularly for mages. And yeah, some of the armor really has some silly stats. Especially considering what all you have to go through to get some of them. Oh, one more point of advice with the forge. This is just personal preference, but for me.... I worry less about the stats on armor/clothes at first, than I do with jewelry. If you throw the majority of your "must have" bonuses onto stuff like Rings, Belts, and Necklaces.... you can then mix and match your armor as you see fit with less impact on your core necessities. (that and in some areas of the game, they take your armor away from you....)
en4cer
DarkeWolf i hate to prove you wrong bud but just take a look at some of the tnt robes where no matter what gloves or shoes you wear it still looks like a tnt one piece suit or for that matter take a look at Armor of the Sten, same thing no matter what gloves you put on or boots it still looks like Armor of Sten. I think its deffo possible to do and quite simple i might add ,question is tho will anyone bother to do that .
en4cer
Poindexter1985 with the Winter Forge the easiest way without all the fuss and hunting for scrolls and what have you to make the armor you want with the stats you want is to simply pick the armor you want ...........lets say umm use the Black Templar Armor ........whack it on the forge, choose create a new item (make the armor you want and material you want to use) then imbue the new armor from Black Templar Armor stats and Voilla !! your done :) Of course you can use any armor from nexus with any stats you want . DarkeWolf
En4cer- I really didn't want to get this technical, but neither of us are right or wrong. Yes, even with the morrigan robes, you can interchange any boot or glove combination that you want. However, if you change the body clothing itself, it will affect the appearance of what the toon is wearing. This is because unlike armors, clothes are quasi-unimesh. They include hands and feet, and count as the outter layer, thus.... do not show the presence of gloves or boots. The TnT armors also fall into this category, as some of them too, are also quasi-unimesh.I say quasi because a TRUE unimesh body includes the head as part of the mesh. As I stated... clothes would have to be changed to use the morrigan robes mesh. Tis actually true of armors as well, in order for it to still look like Morrigan's robes. Boots and gloves would be able to be left alone. But all the Clothes and Armors would have have a second item made. Perhaps its more a matter of terms that we're using. For myself anything that replaces 60-70% of the body is clothing/armor. Gloves boots and helms, don't count as that, for me. As they only replace one part of the mesh. Boots covering feet, gloves covering hands. Both of those are one mesh, which are seperate from the mesh of the main body. A helmet covers the head, which is another completely seperate mesh from the body. But hands and feet are two parts? No, the meshes for them are not. If you made a costume, which for example, only created one shoe. You would still have to create a texture file for the other foot, barefoot, or else you're going to end up with a one legged person. Or a person with one foot that looks like you want it to, and the other foot looking like a gray manniquin leg made of plastic. If you still arent following along with what I mean.... download daTool. And look thru the armors and the boots and the gloves. With that, you can see the way that the bodies are built. http://social.bioware.com/project/41/

DarkeWolf
Its all good bro. :wink:And I'm glad to hear that you took a look thru those. Even just looking at how the meshes are like, helps to give somebody a little bit of an idea of some of the mechanics involved with this game
