Enable the Console - Please Help

Hey everyone.

 

I have recently been using the toolset to edit my saved game files, however I have been trying to get the console to work on my computer with no luck what so ever.

 

I created a short cut from the C:\Program Files (x86)\Dragon Age\bin_ship and placed it on the desktop.

 

I then opened it up via properties and added the string -enabledeveloperconsole

 

The string looks like this now.

 

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Dragon Age\bin_ship\daorigins.exe" -enabledeveloperconsole

 

I then went to my documents and changed the openconsole command to a ctl+x via the key bindings. the string looks like this.

 

C:\Users\Daddy\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Settings

 

under the keybindings the string looks like this

 

OpenConsole_0=Keyboard::Button_x

 

 

So when I enter the game nothing happens. There is no console, there is no change. I have tried using different key-bindings with absolutely no success.

 

I read somewhere that I needed a mod to see the console, but I do not know what mod i am supposed to add. I have tried downloading a few from this site however everytime I click on something to download it informs me that there was a fatal error. SO I am at a loss of what to do now.

 

Any help that you can give me would be greatly appreciated. .

UPDATE!

 

Last night I was able to get the console to work, however I can not see it. The only way I know the console if up is when the shortcut keys do not work, so all you do is type in what you want and press enter.

 

I am still trying to download files from the site here, but I still get a site error everytime I try.

If you want to get the missing console font, there are many other ways. Look at the bottom of the wiki page: http://social.bioware.com/wiki/datoolset/index.php/Console

 

Rerunning datasetup.exe didn't work for me, but you can also either get it from the standalone Character Creator or extract it from the specified file on your install DVD. I think it was Bryan Derksen (from BioWare) who first mentioned the fix there.

Downloads just started working for me, Must have had something to do wth my PC because I restarted it and now I can download files from this site.

yeah, basically you need to install the fonts for it to work correctly.... not be invisible.

 

The issue with the downloads isnt your computer. Theres an announcemet made that they upgraded the servers. The file DL and UL problems are related to that.
