guttyxx Posted September 11, 2014 Share Posted September 11, 2014 (edited) So I have been modding New Vegas a bit and I finally decided to go all the way to make it a better looking and playing game.I'm new to modding so I decided I would try to play it relatively safe: Get the most endorsed mods and as few mods that do the same as I could. I also tried to steer clear of mods that I had to install manually so as to avoid mucking things up.I have been dabbling with modding it for a few weeks on an old save but before I tried this I decided to uninstall all the mods I had and make clean installs of pretty much everything and then making a new save game.So I install the mods, run into little trouble except for running the wrong patches or patches that patch the same stuff or something like that but eventually I recon I got all the mods to work with each other but then came my trouble.First of all, when I try to start my new game, Doc Mitchell skips over typing my name or creating my character and I'm also unable to use the Vigor Tester. Mitchell goes on with the dialouge as if everything is fine and I end up with an unmade character. I think "I'm gonna get a chance to change things later, when I leave Goodsprings so I'll just go play the game." Then I realize that the escape key doesn't work. (Managed to fix that) Then I run into trouble with my equipment menu and such. I don't have a pip-boy. I was running the readius mod and just uninstalled/reinstalled it along with all the other mods but for some reason when I try to bring up my pip-boy/readius I end up looking at the empty palm of my hand. So to sum up I've got a non-character player character and no pip-boy. (And no, Doc Mitchell doesn't give me a pip-boy)Can someone please help? Edit: Load order text file won't upload. Looca Posted September 12, 2014 Share Posted September 12, 2014 I hear weird things can occur when you have too many plug-ins loaded. Even without the inactive ones, you got 144 of them here. General consensus seems to be that the magical threshold is around 139 so I guess the first suggestion would be to cut that down a bit. I'm new to modding ...Ha. I'm getting the impression most people spend more time on getting their mods to play along than actually playing their modded games, but that can't be right... right? One thing I noticed is that Interior Lighting Overhaul is said to conflict with URLIFIED Interiors so there's one you could lose. Other than that I'm honestly a bit overwhelmed by your list. For general load order anti-confusion there's BOSS, from what I've heard it can point out conflicts and such - just in case. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

So I got through the opening sequence and got my pip-boy and was able to make my character and pick skills and such but then I open the pip-boy to put on some clothes. Pip-Boy 2500 (The mod I'm running for the pip-boy) opens with a lot of noise that just doesn't stop until I close it again. I decide I need to wear something and open it again and quickly equip the Vault jumpsuit Mitchell gave me. It seems to equip correctly and I exit the pip-boy to find that I'm naked. It's like clothing that covers my body is automatically unequipped when I close the Pip-boy. Can you think of anything that might be causing this. Also, it seems there is something wrong with sneaking. I can't go into sneak mode. I press left-Ctrl and I don't crouch to sneak and the sneak status bar doesn't appear. (Managed to rob Mitchell blind regardless, but still)You'll get 3 whole internets if you help me get through this so I can play this (now) lovely looking game. Ha. Hence the recommendation of BOSS for load order things, it certainly knows better than I do. My method of fixing things wrong with my own game usually invovles a large metaphorical hammer. Now, you still have a whole bunch of plug-ins. I think for one it'd be best to remove the inactive ones from your Data folder. Also, I always like suggesting FNVEdit for the heck of it, you can find conflicts and create a merged patch to deal with obscurities. PipboyRemover.esm=1 Glove_be_gone.esp=1 I was wondering, do you need both of these? I figure the Pipboy Remover would get rid of the glove as well but I'm unfamiliar with it. Regarding the Pipboy weirdness: I'm having problems with looping sounds and clothing being re-equipped constantly! If you're using the Pip-Boy Remover mod I recommended, make sure that mod is deactivated before installing this mod from scratch!That's from the 2500 description. About crouching; if I recall correctly, the game won't let you crouch until... some point, I don't remember. Possibly after Mitchell gives you the Pipboy or after you've left his house for the first time. (Just guessing, can't tell if you've left the house yet.) Immersive Karma.esp=1 Correct me if I'm wrong, doesn't PN have an option to disable Karma messages? So you wouldn't need that. The shorter your list, the better. (I had actually just read that thing about the bug before you posted it) and the bug perseveres.I also decided to reinstall robert's body mod for the hell of it. Didn't help at all. I do use Boss and Loot and Fnvedit. (Although I don't have a clue how to make a merged patch)Followed your advice and clipped out some redundant mods and nothing seems to help. Fnvedit doesn't seem to find fault with anything and load-order should be splendid if you take in account how many times I've made both Boss and Loot go through it. Here's a video on FNVEdit (the entire thing is quite informative but the link should point you to the part about merged patches). Dumb question: When you say you removed the mod, did you follow the instructions in the description where it says "do this or it'll break your game"? I don't know much about the Pipboy 2500 so if the FAQ doesn't help, I don't know. Personally, when I can't get a mod to work I just stop trying but I'm a quitter.
