Of course there are a series of steps prior to this that could be wrong...ugh. Don't know...

That's wrong. "if(!IsObjectValid...) this should be above UT_Additem. Why are you not copying and pasting the script =P

1. Check if your main module is extending to Single Player?

2. Check if your item module is set to Core Game Resources? (only the first option is set to Core Game Resources)

3. Check if you went back to your main module and added in the script?

 

I posted the script for you to copy and paste exactly below, using "my_arcane_warrior" as the tag, and "my_arcane_warrior.uti" as the item file. Spawning items into your inventory was the first thing I learned. It took a while to understand what's going on, but it's very easy. The toolset is ... annoying. One wrong line, one misplaced symbol, one little thing wrong - such as your module not extending or created properly, and it won't spawn. You have to follow EXACTLY what I told you. Start over from the beginning. Follow the steps below:

 

1. File > Manage Module > New >

2. Type in aw_test as the name of your module.

3. In the UID, type in aw_test_123

3. Don't close yet... scroll down a bit, and set the module to "Single Player"

4. Open the module.

5. File > New > Item

6. Resource Name: aw_weapon. Module: Core Game Resources. Owner Module: aw_test. State: None

7. Make your item. Dont' get fancy... make a generic weapon first. Make sure you enter all the fields including "icon", "Inventory Sub Group", etc... Just fill everything out PROPERLY. Save.

8. File > New > Script.

9. In the area, type in / choose the following option.... Resoruce Name: aw_test_script Module: aw_test Owner Module: aw_test. Hit Okay.

10. Copy and paste the script below. Save.

11. File > Manage Module > Choose aw_test > Click Properties

12. In the Script field, select the script named "aw_test_script"

 

Export your item and script WITHOUT dependency. Then Export > Generate Module XML. Then Export > Generate Manifest XML.

 

Start game. Item should be in your inventory, if you followed this STEP - BY - STEP.

If you still can't get it to work.. I don't know haha. It's as easy as it can get. If it doesn't work, you're not doing something right.

By the way, when you create a NEW MODULE, you can NOT delete it. When I was first learning, I ended up with like 30+ modules... none of them really working. To get rid of all the crap, I deleted the toolset completely and restarted over. Now I only have 5 modules in my toolset... castle, calenhad, vulak, import item for my char, and the new adventure module i'm working on.

 

Basically no way to clean up the modules (at least not that I know).

That's wrong. "if(!IsObjectValid...) this should be above UT_Additem. Why are you not copying and pasting the script =P

3. Check if you went back to your main module and added in the script?

 

I posted the script for you to copy and paste exactly below, using "my_arcane_warrior" as the tag, and "my_arcane_warrior.uti" as the item file. Spawning items into your inventory was the first thing I learned. It took a while to understand what's going on, but it's very easy. The toolset is ... annoying. One wrong line, one misplaced symbol, one little thing wrong - such as your module not extending or created properly, and it won't spawn. You have to follow EXACTLY what I told you. Start over from the beginning. Follow the steps below:

 

1. File > Manage Module > New >

2. Type in aw_test as the name of your module.

3. In the UID, type in aw_test_123

3. Don't close yet... scroll down a bit, and set the module to "Single Player"

4. Open the module.

5. File > New > Item

6. Resource Name: aw_weapon. Module: Core Game Resources. Owner Module: aw_test. State: None

7. Make your item. Dont' get fancy... make a generic weapon first. Make sure you enter all the fields including "icon", "Inventory Sub Group", etc... Just fill everything out PROPERLY. Save.

8. File > New > Script.

9. In the area, type in / choose the following option.... Resoruce Name: aw_test_script Module: aw_test Owner Module: aw_test. Hit Okay.

10. Copy and paste the script below. Save.

11. File > Manage Module > Choose aw_test > Click Properties

12. In the Script field, select the script named "aw_test_script"

 

Export your item and script WITHOUT dependency. Then Export > Generate Module XML. Then Export > Generate Manifest XML.

 

Start game. Item should be in your inventory, if you followed this STEP - BY - STEP.

That's wrong. "if(!IsObjectValid...) this should be above UT_Additem. Why are you not copying and pasting the script =P

2. Check if your item module is set to Core Game Resources? (only the first option is set to Core Game Resources)

3. Check if you went back to your main module and added in the script?

 

I posted the script for you to copy and paste exactly below, using "my_arcane_warrior" as the tag, and "my_arcane_warrior.uti" as the item file. Spawning items into your inventory was the first thing I learned. It took a while to understand what's going on, but it's very easy. The toolset is ... annoying. One wrong line, one misplaced symbol, one little thing wrong - such as your module not extending or created properly, and it won't spawn. You have to follow EXACTLY what I told you. Start over from the beginning. Follow the steps below:

 

1. File > Manage Module > New >

2. Type in aw_test as the name of your module.

3. In the UID, type in aw_test_123

3. Don't close yet... scroll down a bit, and set the module to "Single Player"

4. Open the module.

5. File > New > Item

6. Resource Name: aw_weapon. Module: Core Game Resources. Owner Module: aw_test. State: None

7. Make your item. Dont' get fancy... make a generic weapon first. Make sure you enter all the fields including "icon", "Inventory Sub Group", etc... Just fill everything out PROPERLY. Save.

8. File > New > Script.

9. In the area, type in / choose the following option.... Resoruce Name: aw_test_script Module: aw_test Owner Module: aw_test. Hit Okay.

10. Copy and paste the script below. Save.

11. File > Manage Module > Choose aw_test > Click Properties

12. In the Script field, select the script named "aw_test_script"

 

Export your item and script WITHOUT dependency. Then Export > Generate Module XML. Then Export > Generate Manifest XML.

 

Start game. Item should be in your inventory, if you followed this STEP - BY - STEP.
