Starting Tips for FWE

So after a long time I decided to play FO3 again and to do it _right_ . So I installed FWE with MMM, Darnified UI, Dynamic Weather, Street Lights and ... it's very hard to play. Well that's what I wanted it to be don't get me wrong. And I also know that I can tweak the settings to my liking. BUT I really do wonder if anyone can really play the game with FWE's default settings. Are there places you can go to without running into hordes of enemies who are better equipped and aim better than you? Let me give you an example:

I went to the Superduper Mart for Moira. I knew that there are some Raiders there so I tried sneaking in and killing with the hunting rifle from a distance, but I'm not good enough to hit anything, they notice me -> I barely escape alive killing 1 of them at most.

Now don't get me wrong. I don't want to whine about the difficulty, I'm just wondering about a good place to start, get some experience and equipment (ammo is sooooo rare). So far I got knocked around pretty good and have - for the time being - tuned down the difficulty quite a bit because I just didn't get anywhere.

I hope anyone gets what I mean and that this is the correct forum for this kind of stuff.

PS: There's one possible explanation for all of the above ... but it couldn't be ... no it shouldn't be ... or maybe ... I'm lacking ski.... nah.. can't be that now, can it?

it is tough. i've spent the last few week making my way in and out of megaton building up my supplies for greater journeys. try not to do quests to begin with and scavange your immidiate surroundings. then start doing moiras quests. thats definatly helped me.

Try lowering the difficulty, if you haven't already.

I was once playing through with FWE, and I was cursing and spitting(Figuratively!) at the computer before I noticed I was playing at max difficulty.

Yeah - FWE is balanced to play at normal difficulty. Then you can go in and tweak various settings from that - like global damage, etc.
