luddemann
Why is the game called dragon age? Ive only encountered 3 big dragons (archdeamon, flemeth and the high dragon). The game should rather be called "The Blight" or something :P Yes, there are some dragons in the game, but waaay too few to give the game the name. As it is called origins, I suppose this is only the bigging of the so called "dragon age", but I would think that "awakening" would have some more dragons as here the dragons have actually awaken (havent played it yet, but ive only seen the architect and his children...) You agree or is it something I missed?

Elrae
I read somewhere that it was called 'Dragon Age' because dragons were thought to have been extinct, but then they were rediscovered, therefore it was the start of the age of the dragons aka the Dragon Age. Something like that anyway!
RustyBlade
From the Codex Entry - "Thedas Calendar - A Discussion of the Chantry Calendar" The current Age was not meant to be the Dragon Age. Throughout the last months of the Blessed Age, the Chantry was preparing to declare the Sun Age, named for the symbol of the Orlesian Empire, which at that time sprawled over much of the south of Thedas and controlled both Ferelden and what is now Nevarra. It was to be a celebration of Orlesian imperial glory. But as the rebellion in Ferelden reached a head and the Battle of River Dane was about to begin, a peculiar event occurred: a rampage, the rising of a dreaded high dragon. Dragons had been thought practically extinct since the days of the Nevarran dragon hunts, and they say that to see this great beast rise from the Frostbacks was both majestic and terrifying. As the rampage began and the high dragon decimated the countryside in its search for food, the elderly Divine Faustine II abruptly declared the Dragon Age. spets21
" Dragon Age " yes , this was also mention in the stolen throne right when the battle of river dane was about to start Loghain saw/hear a dragon flying in the frostback mountains appear while talking to Rowan before sunrise thus it was called dragon age according to the book. but the thread starter ask specifically Why is it called "Dragon Age: Origins"? <=== this actually refers to the individual story of the race you choose in-game as a warden  thus the word Origin
