New Monitor - Blank Screen in Window Mode

That blue text is very hard to read, I skipped a lot of it.

Try erasing your Oblivion.ini - the one in the folder that has the save games not the main game folder.

That is where Oblivion stores information on hardware. It does not automatically change when you change anything. The game will create a new Oblivion.ini the next time you start and try to identify your monitor resolution. It may be a good idea to make a copy of the original Oblivion.ini file for back up also.

I am hoping you meant Dragon Age ini, but where is it? I looked just for future reference in case someone else has the same problem, and I cannot find one. I looked both in program files and MyDocuments path lines.

hail hail, the tech gang's all here!

(Well, except for Dark0ne and LH) But we've still got the usual suspects all in one place

Dan- the dragonage.ini file is located in documents/bioware/dragon age/settings

Ben- dragon age only uses one instance of the dragonage.ini file, I didnt find an instance of it in the programs folder

And after just testing this, I'll confirm that if you erase the contents of it, or even just outright delete it, that DA will create a new file for it. LOL that was a lesson in itself. I've edited mine not to run the splashscreens at start, and I'd forgotten just how annoying those BW and EAg logos were!

Eh... well..... while I'm not in the least bit complaining..... I do have to agree that the blue text is kinda difficult to decipher on the default color scheme here....

Thanks. I knew it had to be somewhere. When I made the switch to widescreen monitors a few years ago you had to manipulate the ini files in the older games to get them to play in the new apsect ratio.

Thanks for the info. I Don't work with DA much. but I knew it had an ini similar to Oblivion. When I made the post I was thinking I had seen something similar in Oblivion a while back, and from that point I had Oblivion on my brain.

Sorry about the blue text, but I use the light "theme" and it works for me. ;) I will try this with the .ini file because I am sad to say, the new cable did not work. :( So, I'll be back with a full report and thank you all for continuing to help me! btw, I don't have Oblivion loaded at this time, although I might play it again after my computer upgrade in a couple months. :)

That was it!!! Thank you all so very much!!! Big Big hugs all around for all you guys! http://ladymoiraine.com/forum/Smileys/default/hug.gif http://ladymoiraine.com/forum/Smileys/default/kisssmiley.gif. I like how you were all a step ahead of me when I got over here today! When the cable didn't work, I was going to suggest the problem HAD to be in the settings files somewhere and here you had all figured that out without me! Thanks again you all, and I'm glad I got the digital cable for my new monitor anyway, why not have it work to it's full potential! And if you'll excuse me, I have some men that need taking care of in a few of my games. See you on the boards! And DarkeWolf, you'll always be my hero.

Well, I thought we had it with the monitor plug, so I'm sorry that you spent more money when you could have not had to. But at least you're ok with having it thru the dvi port now.

I'm really glad to hear that refreshing the .ini file worked out! Awesome work there Ben!

Kudos are down right now. MySQL says too many connections, but I'll try back again in a little while and see if I can give you a one. (Unless I already have at an earlier date...)

Aw, your makin me blush Saturn! Well, all I can really say is.... I try   But Dan helps out a lot too, and Ben definitely is a tremendous help.

(Sorry Dan, not to put you on a lower step....I'd never do that. Its just that as Staff, Ben helps out with the forum's stuff that we dont have access to. So I gotta give him credit for all the things he does around here to help take care of us. )

Really glad to hear that you got it up and running. I'll remember that, about the .ini file.

A learning experience for all of us in this thread

No worries. I am not a glory hog by any means. I just try to help out where I can because I know I will come across something I don't know and will need help myself. All of us helping each other out makes it all the more fun.
