Ailjhyli
I recently downloaded the DAModder due to wanting the Ser Gilmore character option. The file came in 3 parts and I put them all into a zipped folder and dropped it into the DAModder. According to that, it has been installed but the character is now showing up where I believe he is supposed to, Lothering. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong with the download or if there is something I need to do in the game first. Any help would be greatly appreciated, would like to look into more mods but wanting to get this one to work first before doing so. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. spets21
hi , and welcome to the nexus forums, did you check your download content in game to see if the mod you installed is already enabled and running if so , just load your game go outside the chantry in lothering and talk to ser gilmore... you can find him outside the chantry near the chantry board standing engage a conversation with him there will be an option in the dialogue to recruit him in your party and be sure to turn on your dialogue option to be able to read what he is saying in the dialogue. Cheers
DarkeWolf
Yep, welcome aboard! Hrm, sorry that you had some confusion with this mod. Ok, I just dl'd the latest version and opened it up. Version B4 has two files inside the .rar file. One is a readme, and the other is the mod's .dazip.You said there were 3 parts? Once you extract it from the .rar file all you should have to do is drag and drop (DnD) the .dazip into modder, modmanager, or daupdater and it should install.IF you put the .dazip file into a .zip file and then tossed it into the installer... that won't work. All the installer will do is put the .dazip file into your override folder. The game itself cannot read compressed files. .dazip is a compressed file. Essentially, modder, modmanager, and updater do the same thing as winrar, winzip, 7zip, etc do. They decompress compress files. In this case, .zip and .dazip files, and tell them where to drop them to, along with adding the mod's entry into your addins.xml file. So basically, its just unrar the .dazip file from inside, then DnD that into your installer. Happy gaming! Spets- sorry to hop in, didnt mean to try stepping on your toes or anything. I got curious about it so I dl'd it and noticed what the problem might be.
Ailjhyli
Still having troubles, it is not loading into my "Downloadable Content" or anything of the sort. Is there a way to make sure the DAModder is loading stuff correctly? Was really hoping to see Ser Gilmore in game again. lol. Would be the highlight of my day since it's been a bad one so far. Using the DAUpdater does not let me drag the file into it... I'm not sure how to unrar stuff either. Do I need a special program like you do for zip files? Is there an easier way to do this? Drag the file into a certain folder perhaps?
Ailjhyli
I believe I finally got it working, gotta love a husband that tries to help when you look like you're getting really mad at the computer! Thanks guys for all your help. =) Had to redownload the file to get the correct thing I needed to drop into the Modder for some reason. Thanks for being patient with me, and sorry for being such a noob with computer stuff.
DarkeWolf
Glad to hear that you got it working! Thats good to hear. Well, you probably already know this, now. But yeah, there's several programs that you could use for .rar files (which do need to be extracted, like .zip files).winrar is one.... tho once it's expiration runs out it will nag you each time you use it to buy the full version. 7zip is another (www.7zip.com) which you may need... as many of the modders pack their files up in .7z format, and peazip is another, which can also handle the 7z format. Once you've got one these programs installed its easy enough to extract them. Say that you've got a mod called modDA.rar You just right click on it, then from the menu choose something to the effect of extract to new folder. (this option's wording varies by program, but they all use the words new folder). there's two locations in the documents/bioware/dragon age folders where mods are installed. One is documents/bioware/dragon age/packages/core/overridethe other is documents/bioware/dragon age/addins. And I hate to say it, but it's kind of a crapshoot as to which of those folders it's going to install it to. I know that DLC will always go to the addins folder, but mods could be installed to either of them (and occasionally, has files in both folders). A person CAN extract files directly to the Override folder. However.... doing ONLY that pretty much just works if you've got a file that you're replacing. Such as a head morph, a particular script, or some other existing file that you want the game to replace. For mods that actually add new things to the game (such as ser gilmore) you would need to manually update your addins.xml file in notepad by adding the mod information to it. This is the file that DA uses to keep a record of what mods you've got installed that it needs to load when it starts the game up.

Ailjhyli
Thank you so much for the info, going to look into that 7z file tonight. I'm a huge fan of Dragon Age now that I finally own it... ended up picking it up for PS3 first, then picked up the PC version which I seem to like more. :teehee: My husband, who has also played it on PS3, refers to Alistair as my "boy toy"... anyways, I'm looking forward to trying out some more of the mods that change the game play a bit. Thank you again for all your help.
DarkeWolf
No problem at all, glad when I can help out  Yeah, I've heard that the PC version is definitely better than the gamedeck versions. I know that there's issues installing mods on the gamedecks. And that the pc graphics are better. HAHAHA yeah, I know that there's a few boyfriends and hubbys of members of the forums that think similarly of Al and similarly... Zev. And on the opposite side, of Morrigan and Leliana. NP, you're very welcome. Enjoy
