erictcartman
This is a really simple question, but i literally just want to find the standard glass or dwarven dagger so i can alter it's weight, reach, damage, and health so i have a weapon worth using with "throw any weapon". I'm guessing that its got something to do with tes construction set, but i've been messing around with it and searching the net and i have no clue how to do it. is this something that someone could show me really quickly or is it something that requires extensive scripting knowledge or something? yeldarb
To edit a weapon in the CS You want to open the construction set with oblivion.esm as the file you want to edit, not the active file. Click on items. Click on Weapons. Click on the weapon you want to edit. Change the values for damage and wieght to what you think is appropriate. Click on the floppy disc icon to save your changes. You will be prompted to name your new esp. Close the CS and place your new esp above the esp for throw any weapon in the load order. This same esp can be used for all of the changes you make to the stats of vanilla weapons. To edit the esp select it as the active file. TabuKuroshi
Deleted my post because yeldarb said it in simpler terms :) Edit: Ah see Yeldarb answered my questions, It will create an .esp that is good to know.

yeldarb
After you make the changes to the weapons and save you get a box asking you to name your new esp. After you name it it should show up in your data file as a new esp. The reason it may not show up is because you have your game installed in C:Program Files/Bethesda Softworks/Oblivion and are using Widows Vista or Seven. To avoid this problem in the future and to make your game run better with mods, You should install Oblivion under C:Games/Oblivion or C:I HATE UAC/Oblivion.Edit @ 8:36 CST US You do need to give your esp a name before you close the prompt box. erictcartman
ok i think i only need ONE more question: i've saved everything properly and it appears to be working. the only problem is... well i'm not quite sure how to find it. i suppose i could learn how to script it to appear somewhere or something, but that seems a bit much. so i tried using the console command, and after about a dozen attempts to get the punctuation and spacing JUST right, i realized that i couldn't add any items because according to the internet, the id that appears in CS (ex. weapglassdagger) isn't the actual id the console reads, which is actually that series of random numbers. so how exactly do i find my create item's id? EDIT: ok nvm i figured out how to just place it in the world. once again, thanks for your help
