goggles2
or that general lack of support from the community?
roquefort
Why assume that the site is full of people who actually know the answer to your problem but can't be bothered to answer? I know it's frustrating, but chances are that it's just that no-one actually has an answer. Generally if somebody here does know, they will help -- it's that kind of site. Diagnosing a problem such as a crash remotely is effectively impossible unless the solution is blindingly obvious. If you have a ton of mods running it could be anything causing the glitch, and it's unlikely that anybody else will have exactly the same mod list as you. Try disabling all your mods (if you haven't already done this), checking if the game then runs OK, then re-enabling them one by one, checking the game each time until (hopefully) your problem reappears, so you then know which mod is causing the issue. That's SOP, and about all the general advice anybody could give (other than re-installing the game from scratch) without much more detailed knowledge of your setup.BTW, repeated bumping of your own posts tends to p*ss off the admins

VileTouch
never heard of that before how does one go about checking the obse log? well, that's just a blind guess of mine, that you're using a buggy obse enabled modthat log can be found either in your oblivion instalation root folder ( i.e. c:\games\oblivion\) or c:\games\oblivion\data\obseplugins\ or it sometimes writes to the same place your plugins.txt file is (usually c:\appdata\local\oblivion\obse.log [who uses widows xp anymore?]) now, since that was a blind guess of mine, now I urge you to run BOSS.BAT from your data folder and READ its contents throughly. it will most likely point you in the right direction... besides, don't expect us to give you a sound answer if you don't post your load order...(i mean, seriously!) VileTouch
ok ive been hammering away at this for awhile now i caught 2 mistakes i made 1. i was missing a bsa for Open Better Cities (fixed) 2. i had plugins active that should only be bash imported and deactivated (fixed) fixed both and i still get a crash after bethesda logo movies boss sorted load order wrye bash doesnt pick up any conflicts i really cant figure this one out ok, so now you mention open better cities (or open better crashes, should i say!) first things first! Better Cities REQUIRES Shivering Isles to run properly, but i believe you have done the RTFM part already before posting... have you? great... now if you don't have SI there is a command you can use to disable every shivering isles object reference and (hopefully) have no crashes.( although i've tried it and still get CTD, specially in the IC tunnel).. you may need to get your hands dirty and start undeleting and disabling everything by yourself (that's the second most common cause of CTDs) just grab Tes4Edit and have a nice brawl with all those mods... mind ya... it takes a LOT of memory, so you may want to do it in a rather powerful computer. hope that helps edit: umm... wait.... pay special attention to the dialogs if you decide to walk the tes4edit path. missing dialogues always ctd! Megatarius
One of your mods is missing a master file. FCOM is like that. Disable all your FCOM only mods and see what happens. Rename MMM.bsa to FCOM_Convergence_Mart'sMonsterMod.bsa. Sometimes FCOM requires that you use their special variation of the file, rather than the one that comes with the original mod. For instance, don't use Fransesco's esp files, use the FCOM versions of them. It's complicated which ones. Read over both of these sites: http://devnull.sweetdanger.net/convergence.htmlhttp://devnull.sweetdanger.net/fcominstall.html They essentially say the same things in different ways, but if you follow along with both of them at once, looking at each step in one of them and then the other, you'll notice slight differences that you can use to decide what's right for you. It's easy to get lost in the maze of installing FCOM. Good luck, and don't give up. It's super worth the anguish.
