MonsterHunterMaster
So I'm in the middle of working on my mod and now I can't see the handle of the sword anymore, but it still appears in the rendering? What could cause this problem? O.o Normally the handle is right underneath the guard, and after I made the blade (thin part on the left) the handle just dissappeared...Here is a screenshot of my problem: http://i45.tinypic.com/2aewgox.png
MonsterHunterMaster
I guess I know what the problem is: The handle is in another circle than the other parts of the sword.http://i50.tinypic.com/hvs0mt.jpgCan I join these circles somehow or somwthing like that?I just found out that I can copy the handle into the other circle somehow, but then the circle.002 still exists and I see two handles in the render screen...Anyone knows how I can join these circles? razorpony
My guess is that your handle and sword are simply on different layers. You can press 1-9 or click on any of the small white squares below the render window (arranged in 2 sets of 10 squares each) to select a layer, or press ~ to see all layers at once. To move things around simply select the object you want to move, press M and click the box of the layer you'd like to move it to. -Razorpony
MonsterHunterMaster
No, I don't think they are on different layers, since I never used this layer thing.I also can't view the layers (those white boxes) anymore...But the handle and the rest of the sword are in different circles (whatever these circles are?!?)...Can't I join these circles somehow or delete one?http://i46.tinypic.com/1z23vr8.jpghttp://i49.tinypic.com/30rmgid.jpg
alonsomartinez
I agree with razor most likely your handle is on another layer When I started off with Blender I had this problem becasue I would accidentally hit the 1 - 9 buttoins by mistake and I would restart Now I realize that they are on different layers. try merging all visible layers that shpould fix it Edited June 12, 2010 by alonsomartinez
MonsterHunterMaster
They are on the same layer. I selected show all layers (~) in the menu but it still isn't there...I guess I know what the problem is, but I can'T fix it..Let me explain: I duplicated the handle once (shift+d).Cuz of that, a new object was built (you can see that on my screenshots, it's named Circle.002).Then, I accidentaly deleted the handle in the object named Circle (You can see that on my screenshots too), so I have only the guard and the blade there (named Circle),but the handle is still there, just as a different object (Circle.002).Now I need to know how to delete Circle.002 so I can make a new handle... razorpony
If you want the layers back you can press / on your numeric keypad to the right, or click view and then click global instead of local. Once you have the layer boxes back you can see for sure if anything is in them. Any layer that has an object in it will have a dot inside its box. If the handle is showing up in the renderer it HAS to be there somewhere. I'm thinking since you have it set to local view the layers aren't displaying properly. Once you get it visible again, if you want to combine the handle with the guard or blade it's simple. Just right click the handle to select it, hold shift, then right click the object you want to combine it with. Once they are both selected (pink outline) then press CTRL-J to join the meshes together. -Razorpony
MonsterHunterMaster
I just pressed the / button and I was able to view the layers and I saw that the handle and the rest of the sword are on the same layer. Also, when I pressed the / button, the handle appeared, so I was able to see the whole sword again. Thanks for your help, my mod is saved again and I can continue to finish it. Thank you very much! (+1 Kudos for you!)
