SaturnC
What do GWs do and where do they go when there isn't a blight? Is there a base where they all live together with their spouses or do they have homes they go to? It was one of Alistairs comments about 'having a real home' that go me thinking about this.I think the post coronation answers a lot of these questions, and what your choices are. You can go with Sten, train the Grey Wardens with Zev, who knows what with Leliana, I don't play her. You can marry Al and be his queen or just stick around and be his consort. If you're a city elf you can take over or have Shianni and then you can go plunder with Zev. (Just added that one for fun--I actually had that in the epilogue of Awakening that I returned to Antiva with Zev--which is always fanciful). You can return to Highever with your brother and help rebuild the family castle. If you're a mage, you can return to the circle. I think the choices are really what you want out of the game. For my characters? I always marry Alistair and we ride off into the sunset and live happily forever in our castle amongst the stars, of course that's that baby of mine and Morrigan's running around out there somewhere. :whistling:
RustyBlade
My last game I became bann of the alienage, kept my relationship going with both Lel and Zev and continued to advise King Al - I was really surprised the game didn't crash. I think that character will die of exhaustion long before the taint gets him. I wonder what the poor wardens are doing... :whistling:

Basically you can do what you want to do, but will always be a GW and presumably answer the call if one comes. I nearly always keep Al as a GW and we go off into the sunset, but I did become queen a couple of times so I would have a strong suitable character to export if I ever need one, but I didn't care as much for the epilogue for queen.
