madoushi0
Had a vanilla version of this game before. Ran well enough for me to finish the main quest. Uninstalled it. Just got GOTY edition off Steam. Upon installing it, my character creation screen is just terrible. I get like maybe 1fps on it. My rig is perfectly capable of playing this. Browsing the net, seems that the svchost (specifically the audiosrv) is causing the trouble. I go into windows services and disable it, the game runs flawlessly, albeit without sound, in the character creation. Is there ANY fix to this whatsoever? I've heard of uninstalling and reinstalling k-lite codecs, and I've done that. It caught a few broken links and codecs, and fixed it. But the game still runs like crap. Disable audiosrv...runs fine...again but no sound. Solutions, please? :(
TheFoxy87
First I'd try is to deinstall ANY codecs and codecspacks you installed which are not windows native, not reinstall but DEinstall and test how the game runs.... if that doesn't help try downloading an audiosrv (backup your old one first and check the newly downloaded for viruses, this should be your last step, not giving guarantee on that one, messing with windows files is always dangerous! :) )...also please open taskmanager while oblivion is running and check if anything uses your CPU ... you might see what is causing the problem... What Windows are you running? What soundcard?Did you update your soundcard drivers? Is your Windows fully updated?
