I have a brand new computer with Oblivion installed to:

 

C:\Games\Oblivion

 

I have a copy of "tes_construction_set_1.2.404" there.

 

I run it as administrator and get:

 

 An error (-5006 : 0x0070002) has occurred while running the setup.

Please make sure you have finished any previous setup and closed other applications.
If the error still occurs, please contact your vendor: .

Are there other modders with Windows 7 who can still mod?

Try rebooting the computer.

 

Also, the error message says you have Windows XP SP2. Are you running it in a compatibility mode? It runs just fine on Win7.

I use Windows 7 and the CS runs just fine. :)

Try doing as legogod suggested, restart your computer.

I did restart the computer. It did not install yesterday, and today when I turned on the computer, it did not install.

 

I do not see any option to run it as a Windows 7 program. Starting it automatically shunts it into compatibility mode. In compatibility mode there is no Windows 7 option in my menu. Unless it goes by some other name such as OS XXX Service Pack XXX, but I have tried most of the options.

 

 

EDIT: Problem solved. The first copy of the CS that I downloaded was corrupted. I downloaded another copy and was able to install it on the first try.
