ToppDog
There are tons of house mods like this. How many followers are you talking about?

Valkasha
That sounds VERY much like this mod: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/41087/? It has a castle with a barracks and a training ground, you can appoint your followers positions in your court or in your army. There's multiple types of armies including an army that will randomly travel across Skyrim fighting bandits etc, of course with an option to recall your army to the castle. ToppDog
There are a couple of castle mods that do the trick, but they are big enough that it is sometimes hard to track down where your followers are. If you can do anything with the CK, I would try the Dragonsmount mod, & modify it to have extra beds. It's big, but not too big, & the upstairs area of the main hall could easily fit 10 bunk beds. I am building a boarding school mod based off the mod above, called DragonsKeep, & it already has the room for 20 plus followers, but it is getting a bit big & they may be too spread out for your liking. The current build has room for 18 typical adult followers in the main building, plus room for a spouse in a smaller attached house, & a couple bedrolls in a cave (I typically don't count these two, but you could depending on how you roleplay your game). The next update will include bunk beds to add six more beds in the staff quarters & 12 more to the barracks. I didn't include children in these numbers, but if that interests you, then this mod will have beds for up to six adopted children plus 12 extra students. The other beds in the mod are for NPC's that I created to make the place look like a functioning school. You may also want to check out the Castles, palaces, mansions and estates section of the Nexus. It looks like there are some new ones there that might be right up your alley as well. saoirseblackfang
as...tempting as that is....i didnt want to be.....THAT...powerful.....i must refrain myself everytime i see that mod one i know its to much power for me. two my games already unstable enough as it is lol ill end up crashing constantly the place im using right now is http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/47773/? and dont get me wrong its a wonderful beautiful place. i just need..it to be slightly bigger with more rooms. and a kitchen. being spouse and kid friendly wouldnt hurt ether but there are not a lot of those around especially in the fort area so i use the dragonborn estate http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/48965/? . so yeah im just looking for a large fortress type thing to put my followers. kinda like the one above. but with more room. see i really..REALLY did look into dragons keep. it looks very awesome as a family home and follower area. but it seemed to big for my taste....and usually big homes with seperate load area's crash big time for me. and upon trying it just now...to atleast give it a look over. i started crashing on the main menu. even with the required mod which i already had..... ( i love khajiit with hair >_>) so yeah dragons keep is a no go  Edited September 21, 2014 by saoirseblackfang

Valkasha
I haven't experienced any increase in crashing with bhos but it's your call. You could just pretend you're not really high king but just a castle lord of Solitude I suppose.
DrNewcenstein
If you're not dead-set on it being Fort-like, and can live with it being an all-in-one structure, take a look at Quintower Manor - it can sleep 22 people with individual storage, has 30 mannequins, each with their own storage, over 100 weapon racks, 2 dozen weapon plagues (single and double with shield), enchanting, alchemy, and smithing indoors, outdoor smithing, and a non-singing bard. No kitchen, per se, but there is a nice big cooking spit, and dining for 16. There are also plenty of idle markers for your followers to hit, and Winterhold-style bookshelves. I didn't make it specifically family-friendly, so you might need a mod like My Home Is Your Home, or unless the vanilla Hearthfires options will allow moving your family to it since it's built with that add-on.
