Simple mods?

Hi everyone,

I guess these should be simple enough, but after 3 days of trying to find complete tutorials, I'm so mixed up in all the tools I want to tear my hair off. Quick context: I've dabbled in Photoshop/Gimp for a few years, but Blender, textures, meshing and bone weight appear to be completely out of my league, especially those dds files. Scripting's fine -- appears relatively similar to Java, so I can handle integrating the files in a custom module.

So here's my request. I've quickly colorized and removed parts of existing main plate models to show the general idea of some armour I'd like to be able to use in my games. Simple variations I just find more pleasing to the eye. Can someone either send me a clear, step by step tutorial on how I can achieve this graphically or create some armour along the same lines? (Bluish themed, a bit more skin but not so outlandish as most female armour mods out there -- I want sexy, not arrow fodder material... a few colour variations could also be nice lol).

I'd really love to learn how to do this myself, but I really can't manage to understand how everything fits together in Blender and how to modify the DDS files to remove the parts that should disappear from view.

Thanks in advance,

Z.
