I've checked for conflicts with OBMM, but didn't find any. Does anyone know why?

I used BOSS to order these mods.

Has it ever worked? Did you test each mod as you installed?

Do you have OBSE and are you starting the game with it?

What did you change since it last worked?

Here is a troubleshooting trick to get you back to the vanilla (unmodified) game - it's fully reversible.

I have the same exact problem again. I think activating and/or deactivating my OMODs is corrupting my game for some reason. It might be the Oblivion XP or DarkUI'd DarN OMODs. Re-installing my game is only a temporary solution, at least until I figure out the problem. Does anyone know what could be causing this?

My game says it can't find the uninstall program when I try to uninstall it, so I can't fix my game at all.

Bben has an article on how to uninstall/reinstall Oblivion which includes a tip on what to do without the uninstaller:

I reinstalled my game with the procedure and it worked fine. When I renamed the folder to use my mods and created my omods, I had the problem again. When I renamed the folder to use the unmodded game, it worked fine again. I'm not sure what mod is causing this. It seems like Oblivion XP is the problem, so I'll try disabling that and see if it works.

Oblivion XP isn't causing this. I don't know what other mods could be causing this. Any ideas?

Why are you renaming folders?

What folders are being renamed?

What are they being renamed to?

Oblivion uses the Windows registry to tell it where to find its folders. Renaming folders can cause it to look for the old folder name in the original folder location.

Renaming mod files can cause the same kind of confusion as the esp tells the mod to look for its various parts by the original name - usually in the Oblivion\data\sub folders.

I have seen people rename things like data or texture folders in the mistaken belief that adding a new folder named data to the data folder that already exists will cause a problem or replace the original folder. It will not do either. When it is installed, you will get a message warning about overwriting - It does not overwrite anything - it actually appends the data folder into the original by creating a new folder inside the existing folder and naming it by the mod name.

I meant that I renamed my newData and newOblivion backups in order to use them instead of my corrupted game.

I deactivated all my mods and now my game crashes at the loading screen. I don't know why the problem is worse after deactivating all my mods, but one of my mods must be corrupting my game when I activate it. Is there any way to discover which mod is causing this?

I understand what you are doing now. Deactivating a mod (unchecking in either the game data list or OBMM) is not the same as removing it. Unchecking an esp only stops that esp from loading on start. All of the textures, meshes etc, and any mod that does not include an esp or esm will still be loaded and can still cause problems. Often corrupt games are stored in the saves as well - which are not touched by deactivating and are not even touched by a standard reinstall.

You may try this instead: Bben's Oblivion Revert to Vanilla game

http://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=340

It allows you to remove all mods and have a completely vanilla game - and keeps any official patches without reinstalling. And it is reversible.

If you have to reinstall: Here is a link to my complete uninstall/reinstall procedure located in the articles section of the Nexus

http://www.tesnexus.com/articles/article.php?id=240

It allows you to preserve any saves and mods, or remove them completely - your choice.

I've done what was at both of those links before, I just don't know what mod could be causing this. When I load Oblivion.esm in the Constuction Set with oldData renamed to Data, the faces of the NPCs just look like black squares with glowing cyan hair. I know now that the textures and meshes from one of my mods must be causing this, but I don't want to get rid of all my mods.

EDIT: I've fixed the problem.
