Horstbert
Hello. I recently installed Beautiful People Hair REN. Then I wanted to create a new character and I noticed, that about half of the hair seems to be invisible. Annoyed I removed the mod and installed More Hair instead - same problem. It affects all races and genders. Any idea how to fix this? (I'm not even sure whether this really is releated to the mods, but it started after installing them.) Oh, and I just noticed that about half of the eye colors of Pineappletree's Vibrant Colors appear as black. (I installed the compatibility patch, by the way.) Could be very dark colours I'm just unable to make out, though. Edited May 5, 2011 by Horstbert
danscott84
Do you have the correct chargen xml installed as well? TerraEx has released a chargen xml compiler that will combine all the xml's and remove the others as there can only be one xml in the override folder for the mods to work. http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=
Horstbert
Thanks for the suggestion, but there was only one xml file installed and it was the one from the mentioned patch. However, I tried something different. I reinstalled Beautiful People Hair REN, ran its xml application and the hairstyles are visible now (except for one female human hairstyle). Many of the eyes are still black though. I'll probably try to delete and reinstall all of these mods later (don't feel like doing it right now... I mean it's 7:23 am over here). EDIT: Argh, I could punch myself! I just used the wrong override folder! So yeah, problem solved. ^^"
Horstbert
I feel kind of bad for posting in this old thread again, but I have the same problem again, albeit under different conditions. So last time my mistake was that I put the mods into the override folder of the root directory instead of the folder under My Documents. Now I don't have any of these mods installed any more, yet many hairstyles and colours look as I described in the above post. I reinstalled the Extra Tints & Tones (and only them) and all colours (expected) as well as hairstyles (unexpected) were back to normal again. So I guess that I somehow managed to damage the original chargenmorphcfg.xml that is located within misc.erf, but I'm not touching that one. I considered un- and reinstalling the whole game to get a new and clean misc.erf, but if it turns out not to solve the problem, that will be a lot of wasted effort for one single file. So, assuming (or rather hoping) that misc.erf is always the same, would somebody please send me theirs, so that the problem will hopefully be solved in the simplest way possible? Edit: I've tried several mods that include chargenmorphcfg.xml now and any of them seems to work, so I'm pretty sure that the original file is somehow corrupted. I know that I could just continue using one of these mods, but I'd rather solve the problem than hide it. Edit2: I've received misc.erf from somebody who has never used any mods, and it didn't solve the problem. Now I'm confused. DarkeWolf
Ok, this is what I think is what's going on.I think that your chargenmorphcfg.xml is the problem here. I think that your chargen.xml file still contains listings for body parts that you have removed from your system when you've uninstalled the mods. The CC is reading the chargen file, and finding those listings, but not finding the files that are referenced. Thats usually what causes the problem with the missing parts in the CC.So maybe move your existing chargenmorphcfg.xml file to a different location on your computer, as a backup. Use the chargenmorph file from one of the mods that you've got installed, and then compile together JUST the mods that you've got on there now. ;)
Horstbert
According to this site chargenmorphcfg.xml is located within misc.erf, and I replaced that file without effect. And I had no CC mods installed at the time, so there was nothing to compile. I've even completely removed Dragon Age, including settings and saves (I backed them up, of course) and started the game without any mods or saves put in place, completely clean, so to say, and there was invisible hair (and black eyes) anyway. I'm out of ideas now, I have no idea where to search for the cause.
Thandal
The file referenced in that article is the built-in game default. Presuming that you've installed your mods under your profile, then that's not the one you care about. All the helpful advice we've been giving has been directed to what you'll need to do to use the chargenmorphcfg.xml file(s) OF THE MOD(S), and presumes that you have installed your mod (including its .xml) under your profile, ("[user's documents]\Bioware\Dragon Age\Packages\core\override") and that if you have more than one, you'll merge all the .xmls into a single one that the game can handle. See DarkeWolf's post above, and ensure that you've cleared out any .xml files from your mods folders other than the one(s) for the mod(s) you want to use. (And see "TerraEx's CharGenMorph Compiler" if you're using more than one.
Horstbert
No offense, but either you didn't read all of my posts, or I'm misunderstanding you. I didn't have any mods installed when the problem occurred. That's why I tried to replace the default file. As soon as I install a mod for the character creator the problem doesn't occur any more, but I don't want any CC mods.
Thandal
Ahhh... I did misread your issue as missing hair when using (as opposed to NOT using) the mod(s). But DarkeWolf's advice is still valid, in reverse. There may be a chargenmorph.xml file floating in your "\override" folder without the appropriate resource file(s) -- hence the "invisible" model elements. Have you scrubbed your HDD for any lingering chargenmorph files? I know you said you un-/re-installed DA, but did you completely delete the entire "\Bioware\Dragon Age" folder under your "\[user documents]" folder after the uninstall? As a practical matter, since you say you don't want any appearance mods running at all, (and the vanilla one is packaged in a .erf, and the ones associated with any mods you have but aren't using should be packaged in a .zip or .rar or something) you could run ("As Admin") the command: "del chargenmorphcfg.xml /s" from the root to blow away any that remain anywhere on your drive. :whistling:

I know you said you un-/re-installed DA, but did you completely delete the entire "\Bioware\Dragon Age" folder under your "\[user documents]" folder after the uninstall?Yup, there was nothing DA related left. I ran "del chargenmorphcfg.xml /s" and it only deleted a .xml file that already was in the recycle bin. I am pretty sure there is no chargenmorphcfg.xml left in the override folder; even after I deleted the folder (I think it was there but empty after I reinstalled the game) the invisible hair stayed invisible. Maybe I can find a mod that only includes one additional hairstyle, edit that one hairstyle out of the .xml file and only put that file into the override folder...
