First time mod-experiences - stability questions FWE+recommended mods

Hello everyone, just like to say a big thumbs up for the community resources here, I only got pointed at this site a few days ago by a friend and I'm very impressed! So impressed in fact I bought the Fallout 3 GOTY edition on steam just to play with some of these mods :)

Anyway guys, I played a bit of Fallout 3 on the PC first time around but in the end decided to go with the 360 one because of frame rate issues etc. But like many I think I've upgraded my PC since and am eager to see what can be done with the engine.

So I followed a bit of modding advise and did the following:

Installed DOMM (easy) and it seems to work fine.

Installed FOSE (a little bit more confusing seemed to just require unpacking into the target directory but since all the scrips work for me in later mods I guess it worked right)

Then I jumped into the deep end and downloaded:

FWE (fallout wanderers edition)

EVE (enhanced energy weapon visuals)

Project Beauty

WMK (weapon mod kits)

Martigens Mutand Mod

(all these with the FOIP mods from the guidance in FW)

And I added Fellout (colour changes)

And More where that came from (additional radio songs)

Before using the NMC's texture pack (performance)

And then using the FO3 Ramboost program to let the exe use more memory.

Okay, on installation I have a couple of questions:

1. In fallout mode manager (0.11.9) package manager - what does it mean some of the mod packages are highlighted in red and some are not :

2. I saw repeated notifications on some of the mods to use a disable validation app before use but noticed the Mod Manager has a toggle that does this. Am I right to just use the switch in the mod manager?

3. When I was installing the NMC textures I was following the author's instruction videos step by step and expecting to find a prompt to overwrite textures in the original data structure - but it seems that the NMC structure was in addition to the texture directories that were installed by the GOTY edition fallout 3. and nothing seemed to be overwritten. (that said I do now have really nice textures so it does seem to work.

Anyway, all this has left me with a load order looking like this:

(check for conflicts comes up with no result)

(load order report says)

Anyway, with all that in place I get a game that looks fantastic, has the functionality promised by FWE - the scripted things like bullet time, sprinting and such work okay. Crafting works, the weapon mods seem functional (was able to mod pistols and such) and runs pretty nicely. Its quick and fluid - the new textures are lovely and the fellout colour scheme is excellent. The Mutant mod seems to be there - i'm seeing variety of monsters and such too.

Only problem - it does crash quite a lot. For apparently random reasons. I can enter a firefight - start shooting and it might freeze or ctd, or it might not. I can reload a save game in seconds - continue the same firefight and its fine. Sometimes it crashes when changing scene (going inside/outside) sometimes it crashes when using the quick travel. On all occassions I can just re-run the game and it continues okay until the next crash.

I'm guessing I've done something stupid with the load order / installation of the mods but I'm a bit too inexperienced with these things to tell exactly what.

So any advise or help will be gladly appreciated.

I absolutely love the way the modded fallout 3 looks now and I really want to play it through like this. Top work from all the modders working on this stuff!
