Several .esp files for same mod

Hey,

I'm having some problems with several mods that either fixes an already existing plugin (for example Frostcrag Reborn) and mods that have several updates needed (in this specific case, OOO).

When I copy the .esp files to the "Data" directory, I get a question wether I would like to replace the .esp or keep both of them. Should I keep both and check off both in OBMM/Wrye Bash, or should I replace them? This might solve a couple of problems for me, so thank you in advance.

Regards,

You may only have one of the .esp files of the same name in the Data directory. (You are encouraged to only keep those esm and esp files in the Data directory that you are actually using in your game, because having the unused files still there and still ending in .esm or .esp can be a source of hard to debug problems in your game.)

In the case of mods that want to change or overwrite Bethesda .esp or .esm files (such as a couple of the Frostcrag enhancers) - you really want to save your original Betheseda DLCFrostcrag.esp (or whichever) someplace safe (or rename it to DLCFrostcrag.esp.Bethesda). Keeping the original file safe allows you to revert to the original game content in case you have some sort of severe problem with the enhanced/modded version.

With some of the more complex mods, the mod package may provide you with two different .esp files with the same name (in different directories). This was done so that you can choose to use different features for the mod (frequently compatibility with various things). In this case, as explained in the readme that comes with the mod, you are to choose one of those .esp files to install into your Data directory.
