Patch 1.03

So, I just installed Awakening onto my computer and I guess it patched my DA so I can't get the mod armors on any new characters, if I uninstall Awakening would that resolve the issue or do I need to uninstall the whole game for my precious mods to work properly? D:

Or the better solution: Can I just uninstall the patch itself? What folder/ directory is it in?

Heyas Broglex-

K. Here goes. Unfortunately, there is no way to uninstall JUST the patch. You would need to uninstall the entire game, and awakening, AND the registry entries in your computer's registry, in order to get rid of the patch. I will also note, that without patch 1.03, you cannot play the awakening expansion.

One thing that you can do to TRY to eleviate the problem is to go in and DEACTIVATE all mods (except for chargen mods like hair and eyes, tattoos, whatnot) BEFORE loading the new character up into the game. Play the new toon til you get to a point where you can savegame, then exit DA. Reactivate the mods, and then load up the new char's savegame. This isn't 100% effective, but it definitely cuts down the % of times that the mods fail to load.

Hdhd has released a script which will allow you to manually add items to your game via the console. Now, in order for this to work, you'll need to enable the console for your game. he's got a link for the directions on how to do that in the description of his mod.

Now however.... because he has to have permission from the modders, in order to add their items to the script for release... he can't include ALL the mods that have issues like this. Which means that you have to go in and edit his script to include the item names that arent in there. The editing itself, isnt all that hard. Tho sometimes finding the item names, can be kind of a chore, in order to add them.

He has instructions on how to do that as well, in the description for the page. http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=1131

The next method... is not 100% effective. You can go in, UNINSTALL all your mods, then go into the savegame. And tell the game to forceload the game, since the mods are missing. Once it finishes loading the game, create a new save, save it as a name that the game will never use (like CleanSave001) or w/e. Then exit DA.

Go back and reinstall each mod, One by one.... meaning, install a mod, reload your clean savegame. Once the weapon/armor/gear appears, save the game. Exit. Reinstall the next mod.... reload the clean save, rinse and repeat.

Another method, is to go in and MOVE all your character savegames from documents/bioware/dragon age/characters. And place them somewhere else on your hard drive, burn them to cd/dvd, put them on a usb drive, or w/e. Load up the new character and see if that works. If not, you may have to delete the savegame for that character and start them over. Using the deactivate method prior to loading them.

Yeah... all this is a pain in the rump. Its a huge issue, and so far.... its proving to be a royal she-dog to overcome.

These two pics of mine pretty much illustrate my feelings about it.
