NCR... Friend Or Foe?

I read an article that detailed the tensions between the Brotherhood and NCR, and that also gave off the impression that the NCR are doing more good justice to the world than the BoS do. Just by the intimidating armor alone however, one would expect this faction to be just as ruthless and savage as the common raider. So, what do you expect of this faction throughout New Vegas? Friend or foe? For me, in all honesty just from the teaser alone, I want to become a member!!! My computer wallpaper is a close up on an NCR soldiers face, and he's holding a 32. I beleive they will however have good karma throught the mojave wasteland, seeing that there main opposing faction is the Ceasers Legion (The Ceasers Legion bieng a slaver group) What do you think?

Definetly, I mean they already control the Hover dam which is New Vegas's main power supply. They could take everything over by destroying it, but of course who would be stupid enough to do that?

Of course of course, Dams are large suppliers of hydroelectricity if used right, even in real life, the Hover dam supplies much of Las Vegas's power, without it, Sin city would be dead city. I'm intrested, however, what role this dam will play in the Fallout universe other than power. Perhaps it serves even a greater purpose, or perhaps, a darker one..... :ermm:

Well, as far as I know, the NCR run the dam for one perpose: To ensure the hydroelectricity can get sent out into the city.

I'm just surrprised that the dam still works... Bieng that it's now over 200 years old. Think, all of the turbines and engines that actually distribute and create electricity through the water. It's pretty interesting. I think the dam is'nt serving a dark perpose, but every person, even the NCR can have a bad side. Some might deside to... harvest that power for evil.

I am just curious... How does that dam power the entire city? (Seeing again, it's 200 years old)

You do know that the Hoover Dam is already over two hundred years old without much need for maintainance? The Dam itself is pure concrete which can last for millenium, and the insides are no doubt working since the dam protects it from erosion. Even after 400 years(which is the estimated age of the Dam in the game) it would still be in tip top shape. Bascially, people could leave the Dam be and it would still be working for a long time.

Yes, but the concrete are not wires and spinning turbines is it? The NCR simply dont have the resources to fix a turbine, generators, or other electrical appliances. That bieng siad, there has to be some other thing that they have placed in the dam... Woud'nt you think?

I'm sure they'd find scrap metal to repair it, but this would be on a mass scale so your probley right. Maybe they have backup resources?
