shaftedarrow
I'm having lots of random "slow downs" while playing. I'm currently using FWE, FOOK2, Project Beauty, Weapon Mod Kits and EvE. The first run included HD textures. I reinstalled everything and kept HD textures out (including all of Project Beauty). The same problem occurs. Random "slow downs". I decided to try out the RAM Booster (allows 2GB+ memory usage) as well as a cell buffer cleaner. The RAM Booster made a noticeable difference and the cell cleaner seems to help recover faster, but certain situations cause so much of a "slow down" that it still just won't operate smoothly. If I try to load a game or quit the game while this "slow down" is happening then the game crashes. Usually it will fix itself and "catch up" after 10-20 seconds but not always. It is extremely common to happen during VATS. I'm thinking that this may be more of a video card related issue. The last try I ran, when I had a "slow down" while approaching Megaton, the gate's pixels were glitched (first visual glitch I've seen in 2 days of testing). I'll attach my dxdiag file and modlist file but I'm positive my computer can easily handle this game. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! P.S. I have not attempted Vanilla yet during this time but I have played the game in the past without major issues. VATS would seldom cause this problem and would recover as soon as VATS ended. As far as I know, all of my drivers are fully updated. I can't seem to locate the modlist file so I'll post that later if I find it. However, I am using the recommended FWE load order according to the FWE site.
shaftedarrow
Update: I tried Vanilla and the game was choppy but playable. When I entered VATS mode I bluescreened with nv4disp being the error. This has happened a lot to me in the past and seems to be an issue with 9800 GTX cards. I have had this bluescreen randomly happen on several occasions through at least 4 OS installations (about 1.5 years). I've done everything suggested online, such as uninstalling and reinstalling latest drivers etc (other than running memtest). I just did some research and someone mentioned that placing the card in slot 2 fixes this issue. I thought I understood that a single gfx card has to be in the primary slot to function. Can anyone shed some light on this matter or possibly similar experiences/solutions with a 9800 GTX card (mine is a GTX+ but I think GT, GTX and GTX+ all use the same chipset). Also, My PSU is a Mustiff 800W. I had this issue using a 430W Earthwatt as well.
