Marrakkew
Hi guys, I just recently bought Oblivion through a steam discount. After playing it on Xbox 360 for many years i thought id buy it just for the ability to mod it. So, after some browsing i decided id like to try BTmod (link below). Looks great. Downloaded the auto-installer, and installed, but it doesnt seem to work. I also downloaded the RAR with the files but the folder the readme tells me to put them into doesnt exist. Maybe im just a noob, but ive installed some mods with Morrowind in the past, so i figured this would be much the same. Can anyone advise me on how to get this mod working? yeldarb
Download 7-zip or J-zip from TESNexus. Both of these Programs allow you to edit the "path" a downloaded file has to take to be installed properly. The defaualt for disc version of Oblivion is C:Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Data. The Default for Steam is C:Program Files\Valve\Steam\Steamapps\common\oblivion-I am not sure if this is correct for the location for your data files, I just copied this from the readme for OBSE. Most mods place meshes, textures, and an esp into Data.If you have Windows Vista or 7, You should install Oblivion in an area where UAC will not interfere with modding the game.I use C:Games\Oblivion. Marrakkew
Yeah, when i installed the addon i checked it was going into the C:Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\oblivion\Data. It is. All of the necessary files, as far as i can tell, seem to be present there.

I have the same problem, with a Steam install. I have OBSE installed and I have "Compass - Disable Both" enabled, but to no avail. I have verified using "getgs" that the IMapRevealMarkerDistance value is being set to 1801 but the compass and map still shows POIs such as the main city. I've also changed the map_config.xml file to disable quest markers, but my quest is still marked. I have tried turning off all other mods (leaving just Oblivion.esm and Compass-Disable_Both.esp) and still, no joy. What else can I try?
