Broken Steel Not Kicking In

Hi there guys, I need some help, and I would be eternally grateful to whomever can help me with my predicament.

 

Right, so I started playing fallout 3 a while ago, got the DCL's about 1/4 through the game and have reinstalled it due to some issues about 3/4 of the game.

 

I've completed Operation Anchorage DCL without any problems and otherwise my gameplay is fine.

 

However the problem comes in when I complete the last mission of Fallout 3, Take It Back!. Once I enter and activate the purifier, the game commences with the cut-scene, my karma is awarded, etc...

 

Now I know for a fact that Broken Steel is installed, because certain enemies and weapons exclusive to the Broken Steel add-on do appear as well as my having the choice of sending Fawkes in, which wasn't possible prior to the Broken Steel add-on.

 

Now I'd hate to have it end here, although I could just walk out and complete whatever is left, but wouldn't feel right, having played for 182 hours.

 

Misc things that I had at the time was my 4 followers, Fawkes, Charon, Paladin Cross and Sydney (a modified version of the original that lets me keep her after the quest Stealing Independence) who were set to follow me.

Note that I've chosen to not use FOOK2 DLC Improvement Kit since it has been known to cause the stuck at level up screen, and I've proven it was indeed that. Is there perhaps something in my mods that are stopping me from continuing with Broken Steel? Is it perhaps the "Max Level Workaround" mod I have? Is it because I'm level 24 and Broken Steel is confused due to a conflict with said mod?

 

I do hope someone can help me with this issue, I'd do anything to continue playing again.

It looks like your using older FOOK2 and I would put my money on that mod being the problem - there were extensive bugs with it especially towards the end (where your at). No fix for that, I'm aware of (hardly an authority though) but I do know it's no longer supported and the FOOK community have moved on, also may I add I'm impressed you got that far considering what you are loading. I've seen and heard of lots of problems with several of your mods when installed together (e.g. AP, PB, UPP, etc).

 

I don't think there's going to be a fix that is as easy as what your hoping for.

Personally if you want FOOK2 try the new version (plus patches - heaps better and more stability) and although they reccommend to start a new character you might be able to get away with it doing the 'ol wait seven days in game, blah blah blah, - and yes I know that sucks.

Hi there Anokii, and thank you for your reply, I really appreciate it!

 

I'm currently using the latest FOOK as far as I know, V1.1 Beta, with all uh extra files and the hotfix.

 

I don't want to screw up my game, as I can get along fine by not completing the game, but do you think it is possible to disable all FOOK plug-ins and continue from my latest save, finish the Take It Back! quest and hopefully Broken Steel will kick-in and I can reactivate all FOOK plug-ins once I've made the cross-over?

 

If not, do you perhaps know of any other alternative to getting through this problem, activating Broken Steel quests?

 

Would that mod that's out there that is "Play after MQ" work with my problem and solve it?

Alright, I've fixed this problem thanks to the comment from Anokii. All I did was disable ALL my mods except for the official DLC's and loaded my latest save, saved the game, loaded it up again, finished "Take It Back!" and successfully got phased into Broken Steel. Then I saved my game, loaded up all my mods as above and loaded my latest save I made, and to this point I haven't had any problems.

 

Big thanks to Anokii for the speedy reply and giving me the info I needed to test and achieve this. Kudos to you good Sir. :)

the Broken Steel max level workaround couldve caused it not to work. you can just use a console code to do it:

press the tilde (`~) key, type setgs imaxcharacterlevel xx (where xx) is the level you want to stop at. 99 is a good number. and if you dont make it to 99, retype setgs imaxcharacterlevel and replace xx with the current level youre on
