Korodic
Hello everyone, I bring this idea forward to the community which bring imagination into a virtual reality, and while I was browsing what they had to offer I noticed a particularly lacking field, skills. While people have made skill revamps they really didn't add anything new, well this idea is going to change that with it's common sense logic and more immerse ideals. A note, I only was able to think of one idea. In a way it was semi-inspired by runescape (don't worry we don't really want it anything too much like runescape). Here is what I have proposed. I hope this may lead our community into a more unique direction of inspiration :)Another note, I used the word immersive to describe my idea more, as I did search this and had actually found a mod similar to what I wanted but not quite the same way as I had hoped. His mod can be found here. I had contacted the creator about my suggestions as of yesterday, still no reply. The Mining Mod CONCEPTAdding more realism to the game and more player to world interaction the mining mod adds an actual player skill for mining ore from the many veins scattered across Cyrodill. HOW IT WORKSOPTION 1:The mesh, texture, and skeleton of a normal vein would be copied from oblivion and used to create a creature version. It would have to be independent of gravity (so when a player kills it, the vein will not fall form the ceiling). It would also use the algorithm for the skill to calculate how much health the vein has. When the vein dies perhaps it could still have the death animation of it cracking open. Now that I think of it, a health bar would be more desirable for the player (I would imagine). OPTION 2: Script the already existing veins to do the task above (except they would not be creatures). A player could gain exp kept by a script for the skill, or there could be quests/training that enhance their mining level. MATH INVOLVED (Algorithms)The health of the vein (how many times you need to strike it) should depend on 3 things. The player's skill, what type of ore they are mining for, and what pick ax they use (along with it's condition?). Perhaps (if possible) it could also determine how much loot at random (by the players level?) ITEMS TO CREATE/INCLUDEMining hat, pick ax (usable, retexture for iron, silver, gold, etc. To give better odds for algorithms), mining clothes. QUESTSMining guild would be a neat feature to add. Perhaps bring back the east empire company (mining division) of morrowind? Any additional ideas or constructive criticism is always welcomed below. Anyone willing to take this on should give me credit for concepts, I would do this if I could, but i haven't the TES modding skills. Thank you all for reading and your time ;D
Genzel
Sounds neat, but, correct me if I'm wrong, aren't new skills impossible to add to Oblivion. Much like how a new weapon class with animations cannot be added, I was under the impression that new skills, attributes, etc could not be added. Maybe I'm wrong or there is another way around it, but that's just what I thought. If it can be done, it would be a really awesome addition.
