Setting Up the 4GB Enabler for DA:O Ultimate Edition on Steam?

I'm a little hesitant on posting this here since I know the rules about cracks and all that regarding games supported on the Nexus. So let me begin by saying I have a legitimate version of Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition I purchased on Steam, and if requested I'd be happy to furnish proof of it.

That said, I've been reading up on the 4GB Enabler for DA:O. For Origin versions of the game you don't apparently need extra steps but there's a whole other side to it for the Steam version. In one Steam Community post I saw it said you needed to extract the DAOrigins.exe from the v1.05 patch, but you also needed to have a cracked image of the game. This here, this is the part I'm hoping to avoid.

First, there's risks using cracked software such as viruses and all that. I've got a clean system, no cracks/hacks for any games, software, or programs whatsoever and I want to keep it this way. Secondly, if I bought the game why would I want an image of it? I suppose I'm making a big deal outta nothing here but my question is if there's a way to bypass all of this, use the enabler on a Steam version of it without having to do any risky procedures? And if so, how? I don't mind losing Steam overlay really, but I do want to keep the game functioning through Steam as it should be.

Many of us here on the Nexus use "4GB Enablers" for our games that can be helped that way.

But getting one to work with a Steam-install can be a real problem. While general discussion of doing so are allowed, mention of, or links to, crack tools or cracked versions of game files is not!

Of course! My apologies there, I have no intentions of asking for them, and if this thread is breaking a rule please do delete it. I'm seeking a solution to my Steam 4GB Enabler delimma that doesn't rely on using such means nor am I asking how to using these measures. There has to be a way to make it work without resorting to questionable means. If there is no other method I just won't use an enabler then.

The topic can certainly stay. It's a real problem and I know that some people have solved it without resorting to pirate versions. I just don't happen to use, (or have a need to use) any of those solutions since I try to avoid Steam for exactly this sort of reason.
