babyeatingdingo
i deleted all my FO3 files and reinstalled (all children in the game suddenly ceased to have healthbars, and were thus totally untouchable, making the game unplayable since mine had lots of child enemies, and nobody could help me fix it), patched to version 1.7, and installed a few mods including Archive Invalidation Invalidated. now, whenever i try to use FOSE though, it crashes. this never used to happen. also, in my FO3 data folder, meshes/textures/etc are in Archive Folder things, so when i download new textures/meshes in mods, it does not overwrite like it always used to. what do i do about this? and how do i get FOSE to work again? someone please help me with this -_-
csgators
Move the \My Games\Fallout3 folder in your My Documents folder to somewhere else until the game runs correctly once. After that you can move the saved games back and it should work.

csgators
The save files are not stored in the same place that you install the game. Fallout 3 creates a folder in your My Documents. When you re-install for some reason the game won't launch with the savegame folder in place. If you are using Windows XP it should be in C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\My Games\Fallout3 In Windows Vista or 7 I think its c:\users\<username>\my documents\my games\ If you move that Fallout 3 folder t somewhere else the game should launch and re-create the folder. After that you can copy the saves folder back in and it should work.
Quetzlsacatanango
OP - he said to move your mygames\fallout 3 folder, not reinstall the game there.doing this will force it to recreate all your ini files. The base game install does not have meshes/textures/etc. folders outside the bsa. This is normal. The first time you place a mod there it won't ask to overwrite anything. This is also normal.Archive Invalidation tells the game to use these 'outside' files instead of the ones inside the bsa.
