Nero333
Hello, I need some help with the mods... I have Windows Vista, and I install a mod on Dragon Age: Origins, following all the directions preciacly, but when I go and play DA, I go to the Downloadable Content place and theres nothing there ( there should be a mod icon), and the mod itself does'nt work either... Am I doing something wrong, or are there some special rules for installing mods in Vista? Thank you wery much, I really appreciate it.

Nero333
Hello DarkeWolf, I didn't tell the specific mod, because no mods are working... I've tried about 5 different mods and neither of them works... Do I still have to say which ones?
DarkeWolf
Heyas! It would help. Not all mods install the same way. And not all of them are packed up in the same format of files, which means additional steps that you have to take before you can install them. Also, are you using daupdater.exe, or one of the mod installers like DA Modder or DA Modmanager?I'd strongly recommend using either of the latter, if you're using daupdater.exe, as the latter two are much better installers. http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=286 Modder (DAM) http://www.dragonagenexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=277 ModManager (DAMM) DAM is easier to use. DAMM would be needed tho, if you're installing a .override file like Natural Bodies all in One.
Nero333
Hey, Well, one of the mods is Leliana Morrigan Zevran Companion Morphs, and yes, I tried DAM, It didn't actually work... I'll try DAMM, but could it be that Vista just has a different way to install/ doesnt except DA mods at all?
DarkeWolf
Vista really shouldn't be a problem unless you're on an account which doesnt have any permissions. In which case you cant write new files. For morphs, all you really need to do with those is just unzip them and put them into your documents/bioware/dragon age/packages/core/override folder. If you dont have an override folder, just create one by clicking on file/new/folder and name it override (not capitalized). the file that you downloaded them in...whats the extension on it? is it .zip .rar .7z or .dazip? if its .rar or .7z you'll need to change that in order for DaM or DAMM to work, since both of those will only recognize .dazip or .zip format files. What you'd need to do is download a program like peazip or 7zip (google them) if you dont already have a program that can handle 7z files, then right click on the mod's folder and choose to extract to a new folder. then just right click on the extracted folder and choose to add it to a new .zip archive. (the actual wording for that varies by program tho...)
Nero333
I got Natural Bodies all in one mod, 7z it at my dekstop, opened DAMM, and dragged the file to the Installed Overrides section... A window poped up asking me if I wanted to install this override, I said yes and... nothing. The window said "Not responding" and then DAMM just turned off... I tried it a several times, with the same result every time... I don't know, maybe I'm just stupid and missing something... Or maybe I should try to restart my computer and try again? Edit: Oh, wait, It actually works! I just had to wait a little bit! Wow, thank you so much for your help!
DarkeWolf
Ok, its a 7z file. As I mentioned before, DAM and DAMM cant recognize .7z files. So you'll need to dl one of the progs that I mentioned and extract the .override folder from inside that 7z file. Once you've done that, you Drag and Drop (DnD) the .override file into DAMM.If you have any other problems, check out my tute on NBAIO http://www.dragonagenexus.com/articles/article.php?id=38If you still have trouble with it, post back here (I dont receive notifications if somebody says anything on the tutorial) and we'll see what's going on

DarkeWolf
hahaha well, I'm glad to hear that you got it all sorted out. :smile:No problem at all. Glad I was able to be some help. Yeah, unfortunately, as a friend of mine said "When it comes to DA, it seems like Nothing's easy!" So if you have any other problems, just post up, and we'll try to get you helped out. Oh! and I'll offer you a word or two of advice, right now. There's sometimes problems with mods like armors, weapons, and other gear not showing up on new characters, once you've already got a character started. A really good way to avoid that problem... is before you even start making the character, deactivate those mods. Then start up the character and play it til you can save the game. Save it, then close out of the game, reactivate the mods, and then load up your savegame again. Seems like a hassle, but it's a lot less of a hassle than trying to get those mods to work again  Enjoy, and happy gaming!
