Help on Cure for Vampirism quest

So I became a vampire through the Dark Brotherhood questline, then got the quest to cure vampirism. I go through everything up until the point where the witch asks for 5 empty grand soul gems. I go and get 5 empty grand soul gems in my inventory, but she won't accept them! No matter what I do, I drop them then pick them back up, sell them then buy them back, nothing makes her accept them from me. I only get the "I don't have them yet" dialogue option when speaking to her. Please help me with this.

well, do you have any mods that might change the soul gems?

you should try and find the item code for your soul gems, and see if it matches the item code of the vanille soul gems

if it is different, than try to add 5 of the vanille soul gems, and see if this works

for best results, why don't you add your load list? this way people will be able to tell you if you have a mod that changes soul gems

hope this helps you

I usually find that even though you may pick up 5 grand soul gems, they might not be the exact same as each other. I had that problem too once but fixed it by making sure I have 5 of the same soul gem. Just go into your inventory and look to see if you have the number 5 (or greater) beside Grand Soul Gem. You may have other multiple Grand Soul Gems, which I recall having (so it didn't count).

Well, I tried adding grand soul gems through the console, and they just ended up stacking on top of the 5 I already had, and still didn't work. And no, I don't have any mods that change the soul gems.

Could anyone just provide a console code to advance the quest to the next stage or something? I mean, I could just cure the vampirism through the Deepscorn Hollow DLC, but I really just want some quest story and stuff.

here you go: Cure For Vampirism

in the bottom of this page, you will find a chart with the parts of the quest, and the stage number

just use the "setstage" cheat with whatever stage number of your choice

best of luck

Thanks a bunch. Now I can finally get past that annoying part and get on with finishing the quest.

EDIT: Alright, now this is really weird. I keep progressing the quest to the next stage, but all I get when I talk to the witch is something about needing to collect all the ingredients, and I can't hand in any of the ingredients. So I think that it's not a problem with my grand soul gems, but with the vampire cure questline.

The vampire cure questline is known to be, basically, a huge glitch.

Three ideas for you;

1 - buy the Vile Lair plugin. There's a Font of Renewal in one of the rooms, you can cure your vampirism in less then ten seconds.

2 - setstage to right before she's done with the potion, I'm not sure if that'll work right but you could give it a shot.

3 - find the formid for the vampire cure potion and add it to your inventory, the quest won't disappear from your in-progress quests and you won't get a reward from the count, but you can add gold using the additem command and at least your vampirism will be cured.

Yeah, I have the Vile Lair DLC, and then just gave up and cured the vampirism with that. What I forgot was that curing vampirism totally messes up your player's face, and since I was quite fond of the way my character's face looked just so, I loaded to an earlier save before I gained vampirism and swore to myself that no character of mine would ever become a vampire again.

well, if i recall correctly, there is a FaceGen program for Oblivion, that allows you to change your chars face to another face from your saves

i know that they have this for Fallout, and i'm pretty sure they have it for Oblivion as well

if it does exist, then you can always make sure your char looks the same, by just changing the face

i'll look for the program and post a link for you

Edit: ok, it seems like i was wrong, and they don't have the same program for Oblivion

however, you could try the Fallout 3 program, because it might work on Oblivion as well

i hope this works out for you
